About ONE Championship
ONE Championship™ is Asia's largest sports media property with a global broadcast to over 1 billion homes across 118 countries.
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is the fastest growing sport in the world today. In true Darwinian fashion, the sport of MMA allows for any martial arts style to compete against any martial arts style in the most free of artistic expressions for martial artists. MMA athletes utilize the best techniques from any and all martial arts in order to compete standing up or on the ground.
Whether it is Karate, Muay Thai, Kung Fu, Silat, Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Kali, Shuai Jiao, Aikido, or other martial arts, Asia has been the birthplace and home of martial arts for the last 5,000 years. Mixed martial arts (MMA) is the most exciting evolution in centuries and is the future of martial arts. It combines the excitement of a prize fight, the athleticism of the Olympics, the tradition of martial arts, and the adrenaline of a rock concert.
ONE Championship™ currently hosts the most exciting MMA fights in Asia, featuring the top Asian fighters.
CEO, ONE Championship™
As the CEO of ONE Championship™, it is no surprise that Victor Cui was recently recognized as The Most Powerful Man in Asian MMA. You only have to see Victor's personal background to understand why his career trajectory has created a brand new paradigm for sports marketing in Asia.
Born in Canada, his father's diplomatic work took the family to Africa where he spent most of his childhood. A few brief stays in Europe and Asia followed, and then it was back to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where he finished his first degree, a BA in International Politics. After successfully starting and selling a publishing company, he went on to complete a post-graduate program with a focus on Asia-pacific business management and an EMBA in luxury marketing.
Prior to launching ONE Championship™, Victor spent six years with the Event Management Group of Asia's No. 1 sports broadcaster – ESPN STAR Sports (ESS). He successfully led the event business development across Asia and project-led some of the biggest sporting properties and television-event partnerships in the region.
Prior to his role with ESS, he was the Director of Communications for the PGA Tour - Golf Canada. During that same period, he also served as the Managing Editor for Canada's number one golf publication. In 2001, he took on the challenging role of being the youngest Campaign Director for Edmonton's Mayoral election where he successfully led his candidate to an overwhelming majority win.
Victor is one of the few people that have been fortunate enough to put several notches of international sporting experience and marketing communications on his belt. He's thrilled and proud to have played a part in the Commonwealth Games in Malaysia, World Championships in Spain ('99) and Edmonton ('01), the Sydney Olympics, PGA Tour Bell Canadian Open Championship, LPGA Tour BMO Women's Open, X Games Asia, World Series of Pool, World Futsal, and created a series of 12 Martial Combat MMA events.
