Alain Ngalani Wants To Set The Record Straight In Bangkok

Alain “The Panther” Ngalani (25-8-1) is one of the most entertaining martial artists in the world, and he is a firm hit with fans  for his exciting battles, stunning knockouts, and unique personality.

On Saturday, 6 October, the striking superstar returns to ONE Super Series to face Andre “The Giant” Meunier (42-8).

The two heavyweights will meet in a kickboxing bout at ONE: KINGDOM OF HEROES, which takes place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

After pursuing mixed martial arts for the past five years, Ngalani, a Hong Kong native of Cameroonian descent, returned to his striking roots at ONE: PINNACLE OF POWER in June.

The four-time Muay Thai and Kickboxing Heavyweight World Champion faced Dutch-Moroccan striker Tarik Khbabez in a compelling battle, but he did not leave the ring with the result he wanted.

Evidently, that is what motivated him to make a quick return to ONE Super Series.

“I think it was a good fight,” the 43-year-old begins. 

“He was a very strong opponent, but I will only reflect on my own performance. I was a bit rusty.

“It was my first time back in kickboxing for many years, and I was recovering from a surgery, but now, I want to set the record straight.”

Martial arts is much more than records and results to Ngalani.

He is driven to participate in kickboxing competition again because he knows he is capable of a much better showing than three months ago.

“I want to get back in there, no matter who the next opponent is, and make things right — not just for myself, but I want to make things right for my fans,” he continues.

“It doesn’t matter if I win or lose. I want to make sure that I have a good fight and give everything I can. I left Macau feeling like I didn’t do that, so this is an opportunity for me to correct it.”

Ngalani’s upcoming adversary is nicknamed “The Giant,” and he is formidable in both size and skill.

The 42-year-old Australian brings an outstanding 42-8 record into the contest, and, like the Hong Kong hulk, he is also a four-time Kickboxing World Champion.

He has 25 knockouts to his credit, as well as a 9-2 record in professional boxing, but “The Panther” always leaves the analysis of his opponents to his coach. His focus is on himself and becoming a better athlete than ever before.

“I’m not really focusing on him. My trainer showed me some footage, but I leave that to him,” Ngalani explains.

“I’m ready, and I need to make things right. It doesn’t matter who the opponent is. This is kickboxing, and there’s nothing you can do that I don’t know about.”

The event in Bangkok will feature Thai hero Srisaket Sor Rungvisai defending the WBC Super Flyweight World Championship in the main event. It will be the biggest blockbuster in ONE Championship history, and there is no bigger stage in the martial arts world for Ngalani to showcase his best.

It is clear that his fire is burning brighter than ever in his busiest year under the promotion’s banner, and his intentions are well-documented.

“The Panther” wants to make his point, seal the victory, and then focus on his other goals.

“I’m coming in there very hungry,” he asserts. “I’m looking forward to finishing this fight and getting the victory. Then, I’m looking forward to going back to mixed martial arts.”
