The 33-year-old will kick off his tournament campaign against Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy at ONE: ENTER THE DRAGON in Singapore on Friday, 17 May.

Fans and critics around the world agree with the two-time K-1 World Max Champion about his status at the top of the heap in his sport, but that has not made him rest on his laurels.

Petrosyan is as motivated as ever to prove he belongs at the top, and he has not taken his foot off the gas in training as he prepares to enter the fray with seven more of the best martial artists on the planet.

“Winning this World Title would be extremely important because it would further cement the fact that I am the best in the world, it’s as simple as that,” he states.

“This is the most important belt in the world right now. I want to win that belt at all costs.”

The Armenian-Italian has put on two phenomenal displays of his striking brilliance in The Home Of Martial Arts to date – first a victory over fellow tournament participant “Smokin” Jo Nattawut, and then a three-round demolition of Sorgraw Petchyindee Academy.

These victories have seen his confidence skyrocket, particularly as his next battle at the Singapore Indoor Stadium is against one of Sorgraw’s stablemates from Bangkok.

Petrosyan was able to shut down the Thai’s offense in typically clinical fashion and counter with his crushing straight left at will.

He respects Petchmorakot as an elite-level adversary, but he knows that he has the tools to overcome another World Champion from “the art of eight limbs.”

“I know Petchmorakot, and I’ve seen his recent ONE Championship fights. He hails from Thailand and has a Muay Thai style,” Petrosyan offers.

“He is a strong, tough and quality opponent. We will get to find out if he has what it takes starting on 17 May.

“I won’t be telling you what his strengths and weaknesses are because that’s something for my trainer to figure out, and I’m fully aware of them.”

While he believes he has his rival worked out, “The Doctor” is keen to keep his own style an enigma so he can remain a step in front.

He has built his career on his cerebral approach to combat, as well as a constant evolution of his skills. This has made him an almost impossible puzzle to solve, and the Milan native is sure that his key to progression in the World Grand Prix will be his adaptability.

“I’m good at counter-striking, that was my style after all,” he reveals.

“Still, my latest fights ushered in a more aggressive Giorgio, and this, as always, depends on the opponent I’m facing.

“I always try and change my style, so as not to give my opponents any hints.”

Petrosyan and his team have formulated a game plan for the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix quarter-final match-up, and he is the master at executing them.

However, he does not want to give anything away. He wants to showcase his kickboxing mastery on the night and let that answer all of the questions.

“I know what my strengths are, but I’m not going to delve into it too deeply,” says “The Doctor.”

“What I can tell you is that it will be a fantastic fight, a technical fight, and may the best man win! Petchmorakot, I know who you are. Get ready to rumble, because I will be when the day comes.

“I’m training as hard as I can, and we’ll see each other in the ring on fight day, and that’s where I let my strikes do all the talking!”
