El Bouni knew he was going to have to endure some early firepower from the Australian hulk in the Guangzhou Tianhe Gymnasium, and that is exactly what unfolded in the opening round of their catch weight match, which was contested at 105 kilograms.
Meunier rushed at “Mr. Cool” like a bull charging a matador. The strategy nearly worked, as he connected with a massive right hand that got the action started.
The Amsterdam native quickly composed himself before settling into his own striking range, where he had a considerable reach advantage over his powerful opponent.
With Meunier still aggressively moving forward, El Bouni stepped back and allowed momentum to take its course by landing a beautifully-timed counter right hand, which dropped the Melbourne, Australia resident to the canvas.
“The Giant” managed to get back to his feet before the 10-count, but he was standing on rubbery legs.
Seconds later, after the match restarted, “Mr. Cool” landed another colossal right hand that sent Meunier flailing towards the canvas. The referee quickly stopped the contest before the 42-year-old veteran could even attempt to get back to his feet.
El Bouni has his eyes on both the ONE Super Series Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight World Titles, and this incredible knockout could be a sign of things to come.
Now, with his record at 37-6-1, he kicks off his ONE Super Series career in incredible fashion.
