Rika Ishige Impresses In Successful Pro Debut Against Audreylaura Boniface
Hometown heroine Rika “Tinydoll” Ishige made her MMA debut at ONE: WARRIOR KINGDOM, and it was a thriller.
The Thai defeated Malaysia’s Audreylaura “Ice Comet” Boniface in an exciting back-and-forth affair in front of her compatriots at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
There was absolutely no hesitation from either woman warrior. Boniface, who trains out of AJ “Pyro” Lias Mansor’s Borneo Tribal Squad, was able to get the fight to the ground with a well-timed takedown just over 30 seconds into the opening stanza.
Ishige maintained her composure from the bottom, however, and was able to sweep her opponent before attempting to step over with a slick armbar. The “Ice Comet” slipped out, but the Bangkok Fight Lab product wound up on top again.
There was a scramble, but Ishige mounted the Malaysian atomweight and went for another armbar. It appeared tight, but to Boniface’s credit, she worked her way out of the submission.
That did not keep Ishige from remaining in the mount position, and she duly pounded away with creative strikes, forcing the referee to call a stop to the action at 4:32 in the very first round and award Ishige with the TKO victory.
The debut of “Tinydoll” could not have gone any smoother. She is now 1-0 in her MMA campaign. Boniface, however, drops to 0-2.
