There have been several instances where athletes have thrown heavy strikes and finished their opponents off just seconds after the opening bell sounded.
The result in each case is a highlight-reel moment, as well as a spot in the promotion’s record books.
Here, we count down the five fastest knockouts in ONE history.
#1 Mario Satya Wirawan Sets The Record
Mario Satya Wirawan’s first victory in ONE Championship was an unforgettable one.
In December 2015, at ONE: KINGDOM OF KHMER in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, he faced hometown favorite Chan Heng, and stunned the local crowd.
Right after the athletes touched gloves, the visiting Indonesian darted forward with a triple jab. Heng tried blocking the punches, but in the process, he left his chin exposed.
Wirawan capitalized by unleashing a powerful right cross to the Cambodian’s jaw, which instantly dropped him to the ground before he could retaliate.
The total time was six seconds — good enough to secure the fastest knockout ever to be recorded in the organization.
#2 Timofey Nastyukhin’s 6-Second KO
Russian knockout artist Timofey Nastyukhin delighted the crowd at the promotion’s inaugural event in Thailand – ONE: KINGDOM OF CHAMPIONS in May 2016.
He faced Australian slugger Rob Lisita in a catch weight bout at Bangkok’s Impact Arena, and he wasted no time in dispatching his hard-hitting adversary.
Following a touch of the gloves, Lisita stepped forward, and fired a kick at his rival’s lead leg.
Nastyukhin, however, stood strong. He countered with a straight right down the pipe, and then delivered a wild left hook, which immediately crumpled the Aussie.
The whole contest lasted six seconds, rivaling the promotion’s fastest KO ever.
#3 Nuerdebieke Bahetihan Flattens Bruno Pucci
Two-time BJJ No-Gi World Champion Bruno Pucci did not get a chance to display his world-class grappling in this catch weight tilt at ONE: UNBREAKABLE WARRIORS in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in September 2016.
His Chinese rival, Nuerdebieke Bahetihan, did not give him a chance.
“Puccibull” charged at his opponent with a jab, cross, and looping uppercut combination. Nuerdebieke wisely covered up, however, and responded with a massive right hook to the temple, which sent the Brazilian tumbling.
Amazingly, Nuerdebieke managed to graze him immediately with a left hook, which put him down for good. It took all of eight seconds to do the job.
#4 Li Kai Wen’s Aggressive 10-Second KO
This June, in Macau, “The Underdog” Li Kai Wen gave Rodian “The Redeemer” Menchaveza a rude welcome to the world’s largest martial arts organization at ONE: PINNACLE OF POWER.
The Chinese featherweight went all out from the opening bell, throwing a straight right, followed by a spinning heel kick that narrowly missed the mark.
Before his Filipino adversary could adjust, Li connected with a lightning-quick jab, and then a stiff right cross. He followed up that combo with a jab, and then a powerful overhand right, which instantly dropped the promotional debutant to the canvas.
At 10 seconds, it stands as the fastest knockout in the featherweight division.
#5 Alain Ngalani Puts Down “Shrek”
Alain “The Panther” Ngalani has a reputation for putting away his opponents in the first round, but he outdid himself at ONE: TOTAL VICTORY in Jakarta, Indonesia, last September.
The Hong Kong colossus squared off against former ONE Heavyweight World Title challenger Hideki “Shrek” Sekine – a grappling behemoth who desperately wanted to ascend back up the ranks.
As soon as the opening bell sounded, Sekine bum-rushed his opponent in hope of getting a quick takedown.
Ngalani, however, proved to be elusive. He circled away from the Japanese heavyweight, and threw a left straight punch. “Shrek” continued to charge forward, but “The Panther” launched a crisp right hook to the chin, which sent his rival crashing to the mat.
The official stoppage time was 11 seconds, which stands as the fastest knockout in the heavyweight division.
