On Friday, 18 May, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, ONE: UNSTOPPABLE DREAMS is set to electrify the Lion City with a bill topped by a trio of world title bouts. It will mark the first time in ONE Championship history where three world titles will be contested at a single event.

Also, two former lightweight world champions will make their return to the cage, and a pair of Muay Thai legends will make their ONE debuts.

The stakes could not be any higher for the heroes competing at this historic show. Let’s take a closer look at how a victory on Friday could change their lives.

The ONE Women’s Atomweight World Championship

After a year removed from her last bout, reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee will step back into the cage to defend her belt, in a rematch against top contender Mei “V.V.” Yamaguchi.

Each competitor has a lot to prove in this headlining tilt, both on a physical level and an emotional level.

For Lee, her motivation is to retain her world championship, and to finish the only competitor who has ever gone the distance with her.

Also, the Singaporean wants to show the entire world that she has mentally recovered from an unfortunate car accident she experienced back in November.

Similarly, Yamaguchi wants to exact revenge against Lee, who defeated her for the inaugural world title in May 2016.

The Japanese veteran previously admitted to not having adjusted to ONE’s revolutionary weigh-in program. But now, with two solid wins under her belt, as well as a newfound confidence, she could become the first person to defeat – and stop – “Unstoppable” to claim the belt.

The ONE Featherweight World Championship

There will be another epic rematch, as two-division ONE World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen will defend his featherweight world title against a familiar foe in Christian “The Warrior” Lee.

These athletes first crossed paths in August 2016. At the time, Nguyen was the more experienced of the two, and it showed. Lee was put to sleep by a modified guillotine choke, and that put each athlete on different career journeys.

Now, almost two years have passed, and both are more motivated than ever to achieve victory in Singapore.

The Vietnamese-Australian veteran will attempt to further establish his legacy, make a successful first defense of the ONE Featherweight World Title, and prove his first win over the young sensation was not a fluke.

As for Lee, if he can avenge his only loss, he will become the youngest male world champion in mixed martial arts history, and join older sibling, Angela, as the first-ever brother-sister world champions in the sport.

Furthermore, if he gets a finish, he will extend his record for most stoppage wins in the promotion, which currently sits at nine.

The Inaugural ONE Super Series World Title Bout

Sam A Gaiyanghadao IMG_6089.jpg

When ONE Super Series launched, the organization promised that the planet’s best strikers would come together under a single umbrella, and compete for world titles.

That promise is now coming to fruition, as the promotion is preparing to crown the inaugural ONE Super Series Muay Thai Flyweight World Champion.

Multi-time Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao will clash with Sergio “The Samurai” Wielzen for the right to be the first-ever titleholder in ONE Super Series.

ONE fans got their first taste of Sam-A’s exciting style last January when he battled Joseph “Hurricane” Lasiri in the promotion’s inaugural Muay Thai bout. The Singapore-based Thai dominated the contest with his lightning-quick kicks and powerful combinations, earning a second-round TKO victory.

This time, however, the stakes are even greater.

Sam-A is taking on one of his toughest opponents yet in Wielzen, a Lion Fight Lightweight World Champion, It’s Showtime 61MAX World Champion, and two-time World Version W5 Champion who wants to make an strong impression on ONE’s ever-growing fanbase.

ONE Lightweight World Title Contention

Nguyen may not be defending his ONE Lightweight World Championship on Singapore, but he will be keeping a close eye on the rest of the card, as six contenders will attempt to break into title contention.

Former lightweight world champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang will make his return to the cage for the first time since losing the belt to “The Situ-Asian” six months ago.

The Filipino hero begins his comeback against undefeated Russian sambo champion Kharun “Predator” Atlangeriev, a promotional debutant who has finished 10 of his 11 opponents.

Also, former titleholder Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki makes his return to the lightweight division after challenging for the ONE Welterweight World Championship in November, and then submitting former ONE Featherweight World Champion Marat “Cobra” Gafurov in a Grappling Super-Match back in January.

He meets another grappler in Rasul Yakhyaev, who upset Shannon Wiratchai in a lightweight world title eliminator back in December. Defeating a former titleholder like the Japanese icon would certainly boost the Russian to the front of the line.

Amir Khan Yangon Fights Feb 2018 7.jpg

Finally, Singapore Muay Thai Champion Amir Khan will try to rebound after a decision loss to Timofey Nastyukhin back in February.

The 23-year-old meets Sung Jong Lee, a ONE newcomer from South Korea who is a NAGA no-gi grappling champion. In order to stay relevant in the title picture, he will need to impress against Lee, possibly by improving on his record of most knockouts in ONE history.
