Thrilling Bouts Confirmed For ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES In Jakarta
ONE Championship is bringing yet another massive card to Jakarta, Indonesia, on Saturday, 22 September.
ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES at the Jakarta Convention Center will see the ONE Strawweight World Championship contested in an exciting main-event rematch.
In addition to that highly-anticipated title bout, there will be a quartet of flyweight contenders battling it out, hometown heroes trying to rise up the ranks, and explosive strikers looking to make their mark in ONE Super Series.
A ONE Strawweight World Title Main Event
Jakarta has been a happy hunting ground for Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito (13-1).
In May, in the Indonesian capital, he regained the ONE Strawweight World Title in a brilliant rematch with Alex “Little Rock” Silva at ONE: GRIT & GLORY.
The Japanese superstar used his phenomenal wrestling to clinch a split decision victory and get back the gold.
Now, Naito is engaging in yet another rematch – this time against Joshua “The Passion” Pacio (12-2).
The pair faced off at ONE: STATE OF WARRIORS in October 2016, and although the Filipino overwhelmed the champ early on, “Nobita” came out on top with a third-round submission victory.
Since then, Pacio has won four of his last five encounters, and he has finished three top-level adversaries in a row to punch his ticket to a second shot at gold.
The young Filipino’s skills have evolved in the two years since he first attempted to become World Champion, but Naito also showed how far his skills have improved in his last contest.
He was back to his best against Silva, so this is primed to be a fast-paced main event between phenomenal strawweight athletes.
Flyweight Contenders Set To Clash
Team Lakay’s presence at ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES extends beyond the headline attraction, as Danny “The King” Kingad (10-1) will return to action in the co-main event.
After attempting to capture the ONE Flyweight World Championship, Kingad will look to get his third consecutive victory, this time against promotional newcomer Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu (10-2), who has thrilled Japanese crowds in recent years.
Of Wakamatsu’s 10 spectacular wins, nine have come via knockout.
Also, Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhmetov (24-2) will make his highly anticipated return.
The former ONE Flyweight World Championship is desperate to get back on top, and he will aim to begin his ascension back up the ranks against “The Southern Eagle” Ma Hao Bin (11-3).
This is a clash between top contenders and master grapplers, who are sure to put each others’ wrestling expertise to the test.
Hometown Heroes Search For Glory
The Jakarta Convention Center will erupt as Indonesian heroes Stefer Rahardian (9-1), “The Terminator” Sunoto (9-4), and Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol return to action, along with three more of their compatriots.
Rahardian became his nation’s hottest martial arts property in the last two years, as he won nine consecutive bouts, creating many memorable moments in front of his adoring fans.
He will face Peng Xue Wen (4-3) in a strawweight match-up at the show.
This is an enticing clash of styles, as the Indonesian will pit his Brazilian jiu-jitsu against the Chinese warrior’s Greco-Roman wrestling and heavy ground and pound.
Lumban Gaol, who has more wins in 2018 than any other ONE athlete, will battle unbeaten Filipina Jomary Torres (4-0).
This exciting atomweight contest has the potential to elevate the winner into the World Title conversation.
As for Sunoto, the hard-hitting bantamweight will attempt to get his fifth win in his last six bouts against fellow countryman Victorio “Indra” Senduk (6-1), who made a thunderous return to ONE after more than three years away with a second-round TKO in his homeland.
Another pair of Indonesians will collide, as Riski “Kong” Umar (3-1) and Egi Rotzen’s (3-1) rivalry will be renewed in a catch weight bout. This will be a rematch of their exciting, short-notice tilt at ONE: KINGS OF COURAGE in January, which Umar won.
Thrilling ONE Super Series Encounters
ONE Super Series brings Muay Thai action to the Indonesian crowd, as World Champions from “the art of eight limbs” are prepared to make their mark.
Two-time W5 World Champion Sergio “Samurai” Wielzen will make his return at ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES, in a flyweight affair against two-time Omnoi Stadium World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon – a 20-year-old prodigy who has had more than 300 bouts in his young career.
Yodpanomrung Jitmuangnon – a WMC and WPMF Muay Thai World Champion – joins his Thai teammate on the card. He draws Fabrice Delannon, a three-time MAX Muay Thai World Champion, in a battle of bantamweights.
