About Aung La N Sang
Former ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion Aung La N Sang was born in Myanmar, and he became a tremendous athlete at school in Yangon before moving to the United States to study.
There, he began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and other disciplines while studying Agriculture Science at Andrews University in Michigan and was instantly hooked on martial arts.
After graduating, he traveled all over the country working as a migratory beekeeper, but he soon decided to settle down and dedicate his life to martial arts.
Aung La N Sang made his professional debut in 2005 and built a reputation for his outstanding submission skills to earn himself the nickname of “The Burmese Python.”
Over a career spanning more than a decade, almost all of Aung La N Sang’s wins have ended via stoppage, proving his immense talent and effectiveness.
Aung La N Sang made a successful debut in ONE at ONE: UNION OF WARRIORS in Myanmar, winning his bout to become a national hero.
However, it wasn’t until June 2017 when he made history. He defeated Vitaly Bigdash to become the ONE Middleweight MMA World Champion, uniting Myanmar in celebration as they hailed the country’s first-ever MMA World Champion.
Aung La N Sang then doubled his tally of gold in 2018, defeating Alexandre Machado via knockout to claim the vacant ONE Light Heavyweight MMA World Championship.
Despite losing both belts thereafter, the World Title chase continues for the ONE legend, who remains hungry to add more gold to his collection before drawing the curtain on his historic career.
