About Hernani Perpetuo
Status: Former ONE Athlete
Shooto Welterweight World Champion Hernani Perpetuo is from Rio de Janeiro, where he grew up training in kickboxing and other striking arts. His mixed martial arts career initially got off to a slow start because he was focused on his striking career, but nonetheless built an impressive record on the way to the Shooto Brazil Welterweight Championship in 2013.
Perpetuo went on to compete in North America, Russia, and his native Brazil, maintaining his dominant presence in Shooto Brazil before being declared the Shooto Welterweight World Champion in September 2019.
At the same time, he was selected by ONE Championship to represent Shooto against Pancrase Welterweight World Champion Hiroyuki Tetsuka at ONE Championship’s historic ONE: CENTURY card in Tokyo, Japan. Perpetuo is a talented striker who has trained with some of Brazil’s best, and nearly half of his pro wins have come by knockout.
