About Igor Subora
Status: Former ONE Athlete
Filipino Heavyweight Champion Igor Subora grew up in Odessa, a port city in southern Ukraine. When he was 9 years old, his mother enrolled him in judo classes, starting him on a lifelong martial arts journey. After earning his degree in Biology, he moved to the Philippines in 2008, and opened his own dive center in Manila. Subora loves the ocean, and says that diving is both his hobby and his job, other than as a professional mixed martial artist.
After capturing a heavyweight championship in a local Filipino promotion, Subora found his way to ONE Championship. He remains motivated by the desire to represent his team and country, as well as to test the limits of how good he can possibly become. A powerful athlete with proven finishing power, Subora has almost never needed to go to the judges’ scorecards. All but one of his wins have been by highlight reel stoppage, and perfectly showcase his stunning knockout power.
After a stint as heavyweight in ONE Championship where he faced the likes of reigning ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon Vera, Subora has moved down a weight class to light heavyweight in search of a world title.
