About Tommy Langaker
Tommy Langaker was born in Haugesund, Norway, and has been involved in the world of grappling since 11 years old.
Langaker started with Japanese Jujutsu, a traditional martial art that became popular in Scandinavia. Jujutsu is considered by many as the precursor to modern martial arts like judo, sambo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and that’s why Langaker’s transition to BJJ was seamless.
In 2011, Langaker began practicing BJJ full-time and found himself traveling around the world to compete. Then, he enjoyed a brief stint in California where he got his brown belt. Afterward, he flew back to Norway and joined Kimura/Nova Uniao with coach Jose Carlos.
While training under Carlos, Langaker’s potential revealed itself, and he earned his black belt in 2017, three years before winning the IBJJF European Open in 2020. He also won major tournaments in Paris, Sweden, London, Copenhagen, and Dublin, making him one of the most feared grapplers in the world.
Now, he’s looking to dominate ONE Championship’s submission grappling division, and it starts when he challenges ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling World Champion Kade Ruotolo at ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov on Prime Video.
