About Izaak Michell
Izaak Michell is not your typical Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu star.
While many BJJ athletes cut their teeth under one professor, the Australian submission ace has been a travelling nomad, scouring the globe in search of some of the best minds in the game.
Born in Adelaide, South Australia, Michell was a hard-nosed Australian rules football prospect and keen skateboarder. But then he found BJJ at 16 years old.
Through the grappling art, he combined his love of competition and travel and left home at just 18 to train under top coaches such as Lloyd Irvin, Renzo Gracie, and John Danaher.
His globe-trotting career has seen him compete in some of the world’s most prestigious submission grappling tournaments, racking up victories over the likes of IBJJF Gi World Champion Jansen Gomes and IBJJF No-Gi World Champion Roberto Jimenez.
Now, Michell’s main priority is capturing the ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Championship.
