About Jhanlo Mark Sangiao
Jhanlo Mark Sangiao comes from a family of martial artists. The Filipino rising star is not only Team Lakay’s next generation of talent, he’s also the son of the squad’s celebrated head coach, Mark Sangiao.
Sangiao was born a year before his father established Team Lakay at the University of the Cordilleras, making him a part of the fabled stable from the beginning.
His early years revolved around playing at the gym, but as Sangiao grew older he developed an interest in martial arts and began to train alongside his father’s proteges.
This afforded him the opportunity to hit the mats with Eduard Folayang, Kevin Belingon, Geje Eustaquio, Honorio Banario, and Joshua Pacio — all of whom held a ONE World Title at one time or another.
“The Machine’s” first glimpse of his own glory came when he was 14 years old after he competed in a Muay Thai tournament and won gold. He then went on to amass an undefeated MMA record, including winning his first two bouts in ONE Championship by first-round submissions.
With his growing skill set and Team Lakay at his side, Sangiao could very well make a run for the ONE Bantamweight World Title in the near future.
