About Rasul Yakhyaev
Status: Former ONE Athlete
Chechen Jiu-Jitsu and Combat Sambo Champion Rasul Yakhyaev hails from Grozny in Chechnya, a region that is rapidly establishing itself as a breeding ground for elite martial artists. He began training in jiu jitsu at the age of 14, and later started to study combat sambo.
He would go on to win numerous tournaments and competitions, and inevitably turned his attention to professional competition. In 2010, Yakhyaev made his mixed martial arts debut, and quickly established a three-bout winning streak by the end of the year. The Russian standout now has more than 10 wins to his name, with an assortment of stoppage wins proving his skill in all areas of the game. What’s more, almost all of his finishes to date have come within the first-round, highlighting his exciting style of action.
After spending almost his entire career competing in Eastern Europe and establishing himself as one of the top lightweights there, Yakhyaev turned his attention to the global stage, and is looking to make the most of his opportunity in ONE Championship by capturing the ONE Lightweight World Title.
