About Sung Jong Lee
Status: Former ONE Athlete
NAGA No-Gi Grappling Champion Sung Jong Lee may be a highly-regarded grappler today, but he actually began his martial arts journey at an early age with the national Korean martial art of taekwondo.
Lee even represented his school in the kicking art for several years in national competitions, but once he saw early videos of mixed martial arts competition, he knew that was what he wanted to do as a career. He then began expanding on his ground skills by training in Eddie Bravo’s 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu and made a successful professional debut in a South Korean promotion, winning by body kick TKO to showcase his taekwondo pedigree.
The best was yet to come, however. His growing grappling skills started to shine, and he went on to rack up a three-win streak of heel hook submissions to earn a place on the ONE Championship roster. He is currently working on improving his all-round game to make a name for himself now that he has a chance to showcase his skills on the global stage.
