About Tetsuya Yamada
A highly successful and experienced martial artist, ZST Welterweight Champion Tetsuya Yamada is one of the brightest stars from Japan to test his skills against the world’s best in ONE Championship.
As a child, Yamada trained in judo while living in Yokosuka, in the Kanagawa Prefecture of Japan. However, when his best friend from school began training in other disciplines, he decided to give it a try as well. He proved to be a talented and hardworking martial artist, building a successful career for himself since making his professional mixed martial arts debut at the young age of 17.
In 2012, he captured the ZST Welterweight Title, and went on to defend it twice successfully before deciding to drop down a division. After a brief stint competing in different promotions around the world, Yamada is back in ONE Championship, and he is intent on claiming the ONE Featherweight World Title.
