3 Bouts That Could Steal The Show At ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel Vs. Menshikov
Fresh off a wildly successful debut on United States soil, ONE Championship will return to Prime Video this Friday, June 9, with another star-studded bout card featuring four different martial arts disciplines.
Set to air live in North American primetime from the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov is topped by a pair of massive World Title bouts that have fans salivating.
But first, the rest of the lineup is also designed to produce both drama and fireworks.
Whether it’s surging contenders going to war as they try to climb the divisional ranks or a former titleholder seeking redemption, there’s no shortage of intriguing matchups beyond the main and co-main events.
With that in mind, here are three fights that could steal the show when the action begins.
#1 Ilya Freymanov Vs. Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg
Ilya Freymanov burst onto the global scene last September when he knocked out former two-division king Martin Nguyen in spectacular fashion, earning him the #3 featherweight MMA ranking and a US$50,000 performance bonus.
Now, the Russian destroyer hopes to build on that surge of momentum when he squares off with unorthodox and explosive striker Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg.
A former ONE Warrior Series contract winner, the Mongolian is an entertaining knockout artist who could take Freymanov’s spot in the rankings with a strong showing in what has all the makings of an unforgettable barnburner.
#2 Superbon Vs. Tayfun Ozcan
Former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon Singha Mawynn is on a mission to once again sit atop the most stacked division in combat sports – but he’ll first have to get past #5-ranked contender Tayfun “Turbine” Ozcan.
Superbon beat three kickboxing legends in a row to claim the divisional gold, but he suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Chingiz Allazov in January.
Now, the #1-ranked Thai superstar must score an emphatic victory to show he deserves another crack at the World Title, but “Turbine” is far from a pushover.
The Dutch-Turkish sensation joined ONE with plenty of hype, but he’s struggled against top-five contenders. Fans can expect Ozcan to fight tooth and nail this Friday, as it could be his last chance to prove he belongs among the elite of the elite.
#3 Hu Yong Vs. Woo Sung Hoon
Finally, fans certainly won’t want to miss the flyweight MMA scrap between Asian stars “Wolf Warrior” Hu Yong and “Dynamic” Woo Sung Hoon.
Both men come into the contest loaded with confidence after picking up the best wins of their respective careers.
Hu is fresh off a knockout victory over former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje Eustaquio, while Woo finished former ONE Flyweight World Title challenger Yuya Wakamatsu in his most recent outing.
Viewers can expect nonstop action when these two surging athletes meet, with both fighters looking to make a statement and climb their way up the talent-rich division.
