3 Battles That Could Steal The Show At ONE Fight Night 20: Todd Vs. Phetjeeja
This Friday, March 8, ONE Championship will return with a landmark all-women’s card featuring a number of the planet’s top martial artists across four different combat sports disciplines.
Topped by a pair of massive World Title contests, ONE Fight Night 20: Todd vs. Phetjeeja on Prime Video will air live in U.S. primetime to over 190 countries globally and promises action from start to finish.
Beyond the headline attractions atop the bill, the nine-fight slate offers plenty of compelling matchups designed to produce fireworks.
Here are three must-watch contests that could ultimately steal the show at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
#1 Jackie Buntan Vs. Martine Michieletto
Filipino-American sensation Jackie Buntan will square off with Martine “The Italian Queen” Michieletto in a pivotal 130-pound catchweight Muay Thai tilt that has striking fans salivating with anticipation.
Renowned for her big punching power and gritty, aggressive approach to combat, Buntan is a veteran of six thrilling fights in ONE. Her only promotional defeat came in her unsuccessful World Title bid against reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion Smilla “The Hurricane” Sundell.
This time, she’ll face an equally aggressive fighter in multiple-time ISKA Kickboxing World Champion Michieletto.
The 31-year-old Italian shined in her ONE debut last June against veteran Amber Kitchen, showcasing a deep gas tank and a never-say-die attitude en route to an entertaining decision win.
Given each woman’s refusal to take a step backward, this battle has all the makings of an all-out war.
#2 Jihin Radzuan Vs. Chihiro Sawada
In atomweight MMA action, the division’s #5-ranked contender, Jihin “Shadow Cat” Radzuan, will lock horns with Japanese powerhouse Chihiro Sawada in a fight with big implications for the World Title picture.
With an impressive 8-3 record in ONE dating back to 2018, Jihin has essentially grown up in the world’s largest martial arts organization.
The 25-year-old boasts elite submission skills to match her deep well of experience in professional striking, making her one of the division’s toughest puzzles to solve.
“Shadow Cat” will have her hands full with Sawada. A former Shooto Champion, the unbeaten 26-year-old employed a relentless grappling attack to tear through Sanaz Fayazmanesh in her ONE debut last year.
Sawada will now test her submission skills against the upper echelon of the women’s atomweight MMA division in this high-stakes matchup.
#3 Yu Yau Pui Vs. Lara Fernandez
After an incredible 5-0 run in ONE in 2023, atomweight Muay Thai standout Yu Yau Pui will make her highly anticipated U.S. primetime debut against decorated Spanish star Lara Fernandez.
A fearless pressure fighter with ruthless finishing instincts, Yu’s winning streak has established her as perhaps the division’s most electrifying rising star and a fan favorite to the Lumpinee faithful.
Fernandez, though, has never been one to shy away from a firefight.
The former WBC Muay Thai World Champion will come into the bout with her back against the wall after dropping two in a row against championship-caliber opposition.
Fans can expect a furious pace from both women in this potential Fight of the Night.
