3 Bouts That Could Steal The Show At ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks Vs. Balart
This Friday, August 2, ONE Championship will return with another U.S. primetime show packed with intriguing matchups.
ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs. Balart on Prime Video is topped by a pair of can’t-miss World Title showdowns and features the planet’s best martial artists competing across four different combat sports disciplines.
While the headline attractions have certainly drawn the attention of fans around the world, the rest of the card offers no shortage of fights designed to produce action.
With that in mind, here are three bouts that could steal the show at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
#1 Felipe Lobo Vs. Nabil Anane
In bantamweight Muay Thai action, 20-year-old phenom Nabil Anane aims to land himself in the division’s top five when he squares off with former two-time World Title challenger and current #3-ranked contender Felipe “Demolition Man” Lobo.
The youngest-ever WBC Muay Thai World Champion, Anane suffered a defeat in his promotional debut against flyweight kickboxing kingpin Superlek Kiatmoo9.
Since then, the 6-foot-4 knockout artist has reeled off a trio of impressive wins against elite competition, showcasing his dangerous long-range striking and ruthless clinch game.
Lobo, though, does not intend to be a stepping stone. The Brazilian is a powerful counter-striker who has been a mainstay in the upper echelon of the division since joining ONE back in 2020.
In his most recent outing, “Demolition Man” pushed reigning titleholder Jonathan Haggerty to the absolute limit before suffering a knockout, and he’s undoubtedly motivated to prove he deserves another crack at 26 pounds of gold.
#2 Taiki Naito Vs. Elias Mahmoudi
Fans are in for a treat when #5-ranked flyweight kickboxing contender Elias “The Sniper” Mahmoudi goes toe-to-toe with #3-ranked Japanese veteran Taiki Naito in a clash that has fireworks written all over it.
In one corner, Mahmoudi has rightfully earned his reputation as a fan favorite thanks to his ultra-aggressive, high-flying style and dynamic kicking game.
What’s more, the Algerian comes into this contest following a brutal first-round TKO over former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title challenger Edgar Tabares.
Standing across from him will be 12-fight ONE veteran Naito.
The 28-year-old might be the division’s speediest overall striker and knows that a win at ONE Fight Night 24 would do wonders for his quest to secure a coveted World Title shot.
Given each man’s unique skill set and willingness to engage in wild exchanges, this pivotal kickboxing battle shouldn’t disappoint.
#3 Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu Vs. Carlo Bumina-ang
Undefeated Filipino sensation Carlo Bumina-ang hopes to keep his record unblemished when he takes on grizzled Mongolian scrapper Enkh-Orgil “The Tormentor” Baatarkhuu in an explosive bantamweight MMA bout.
The 30-year-old Bumina-ang tallied five wins at ONE Friday Fights – including four highlight-reel finishes – to earn a six-figure contract with ONE’s global roster.
He now hopes to keep his meteoric rise going in his highly anticipated U.S. primetime debut.
The Team Lakay product’s well-rounded game will be put to the test against Baatarkhuu.
Renowned for his endless gas tank, suffocating clinch game, and crushing strength, the Mongolian began his ONE tenure with three straight victories over top Filipino athletes – including a submission win against Bumina-ang’s Team Lakay training partner and then-undefeated rising star Jhanlo Mark Sangiao.
Will “The Tormentor” derail another Filipino’s hype train, or will the prodigiously talented Bumina-ang stay undefeated and earn revenge for his compatriot?
