3 Bouts That Could Steal The Show At ONE Fight Night 6: Superbon Vs. Allazov
Topped by a trio of World Title showdowns, ONE Fight Night 6: Superbon vs. Allazov on Prime Video won’t be short on high-stakes matchups.
But beyond those massive main and co-main event attractions, the card this Friday, January 13, is loaded with intriguing matchups destined for fireworks.
Featuring the returns of some of ONE’s most popular superstars, each of these contests could – and should – deliver drama and highlight-reel moments, potentially stealing the show in the process.
Here, we break down three of the most intriguing fights scheduled for the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
#1 Stamp Fairtex Vs. Anissa Meksen
Former Muay Thai and kickboxing queen turned rising MMA star Stamp Fairtex will square off with legendary striker Anissa Meksen in ONE’s first-ever women’s mixed rules super-fight.
With rounds alternating between Muay Thai and mixed martial arts rules, the bout’s unique rule set will make for a high-paced, tense matchup for as long as it lasts.
Returning to Thailand to compete in front of an adoring home-country crowd, Stamp aims to prove her dominance in both striking and MMA by taking out one of the best pound-for-pound kickboxers of all time.
Meksen, meanwhile, hopes to spoil her opponent’s homecoming and prove that she owns the grappling to hang with the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Champion if their contest reaches the MMA second round.
#2 Rodtang Jitmuangnon Vs. Jiduo Yibu
Current ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon is a global superstar of the highest degree, having shown fans around the world just how thrilling elite-level striking can be.
“The Iron Man” will now lace up the 8-ounce gloves to compete in kickboxing for the second time in his ONE Championship career as he takes on 23-year-old Chinese prodigy Jiduo Yibu in a showdown that has all the makings of a firefight.
Known for his brawling style and seemingly iron chin, the Thai athlete will have his hands full against “The Eagle of Yi,” who comes into this bout with nothing to lose.
The Shengli Fight Club representative possesses an unconventional and unpredictable style, combining crafty footwork with dynamic strikes thrown from all angles.
That style should clash with Rodtang’s power-based Muay Thai to produce a barnburner, and quite possibly, a major upset. Meanwhile, “The Iron Man” hopes to continue his dominance and challenge for the ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Title next.
#3 Garry Tonon Vs. Johnny Nunez
Fans of top-end grappling won’t want to miss the featherweight mixed martial arts battle between the division’s #2-ranked contender, Garry Tonon, and former collegiate wrestler Johnny Nunez.
Appearing in his first MMA bout since his unsuccessful World Title bid nearly a year ago, Tonon will bring his firebrand style of elite BJJ and submission hunting back to the Circle as he aims to stay in the hunt.
However, Nunez will pose a formidable challenge. With his thunderous ground-and-pound and suffocating top control, “Johnny Boy” is likely to willingly engage with Tonon on the mat, where the two grapplers do their best work.
This mixture of Tonon’s all-out aggression and Nunez’s crushing strength is the recipe for an unforgettable war.
