3 Potential Opponents For Stamp Fairtex’s Next MMA Fight

Stamp Fairtex makes her way to the Circle at ONE X

Former ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex is back at work in the gym, sharpening her tools in preparation for a much-anticipated return to the Circle.

The #1-ranked atomweight mixed martial arts contender is coming off a heartbreaking setback in March, as she succumbed to reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee via submission at ONE X.

Still, Stamp has proven that she possesses World Championship potential in MMA. And as a relative newcomer to the sport, there’s no question the striker will continue to improve her all-around game.

She’ll also need to prove herself worthy of another World Title shot, and with that in mind, here are some intriguing potential opponents for the Thai megastar’s next fight.

Jenelyn Olsim

Filipino standout Jenelyn “The Graceful” Olsim has enjoyed an impressive run since joining ONE Championship’s main roster in 2021.

So far, she has defeated the likes of Maira Mazar, Bi Nguyen, and most recently, dangerous Brazilian striker Julie Mezabarba.

Olsim is long and athletic, and her stand-up and grappling skills are developing at a rapid pace.

As a member of the famed Team Lakay gym in Baguio City, she trains alongside former ONE World Champions Eduard Folayang, Geje Eustaquio, Honorio Banario, and reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua Pacio.

Needless to say, the 25-year-old Filipina has access to elite sparring partners, which is a big reason for her early success in the Circle.

A battle between Stamp and Olsim would likely deliver some very entertaining action.

Jihin Radzuan

Malaysian sensation Jihin “Shadow Cat” Radzuan is on quite the hot streak, winning three straight fights over top-flight opposition.

The 23-year-old has beaten Nguyen, former two-time ONE World Title challenger Mei Yamaguchi, and most recently, she handed Japanese phenom Itsuki Hirata her first professional loss. Those performances have earned her the division’s #5 ranking, and it appears she’s only just beginning to hit her stride.

As a capable grappler and wushu striker, Jihin would pose another tricky puzzle for Stamp to solve.

The Fairtex product was recently promoted to purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but a showdown with the Malaysian on the mats could be a sticky situation given Jihin’s experience in that department.

Nevertheless, a Stamp vs. Jihin clash would undoubtedly be a fun scrap.

Denice Zamboanga

The most intriguing matchup for Stamp would likely be #3-ranked atomweight contender Denice “Lycan Queen” Zamboanga.

The 25-year-old Filipina took ONE Championship by storm, debuting with three consecutive wins after joining the promotion in 2019. An impressive victory over Jihin and a one-sided domination of Yamaguchi quickly saw Zamboanga become a top contender in her division.

Even more interesting, Stamp and Zamboanga have a history. The two previously trained together at the Fairtex Training Center and built a close friendship. They treat each other like sisters and even have a library of dance videos together on TikTok.

That being said, both women have expressed a willingness to face each other in the Circle, and they would put aside their friendship in the spirit of competition.

As a fighter, Zamboanga’s wrestling is top-notch and her striking is potent. She also trains with her brother, fellow ONE athlete Drex Zamboanga, and #2-ranked bantamweight Fabricio Andrade at Marrok Force in Bangkok.

Should this bout happen, then “Lycan Queen” would be well-equipped to push Stamp to the limit.
