3 Wins That Show Why Elias Mahmoudi Could Be A Future Threat To Superlek’s Crown

Elias “The Sniper” Mahmoudi is one of the planet’s most entertaining strikers and has proven he possesses all the physical tools, mental fortitude, and dynamic skills needed to become a ONE World Champion.

On August 2 in U.S. primetime, the #5-ranked flyweight kickboxing contender will look to move one massive step closer to a crack at gold when he squares off with #3-ranked Taiki Naito at ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs. Balart on Prime Video.

Set to go down at Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium, that contest will be Mahmoudi’s opportunity to cement himself as a true threat to reigning divisional king “The Kicking Machine” Superlek Kiatmoo9.

While he’s experienced ups and downs in the world’s largest martial arts organization, the Algerian sensation looks to be in the finest shape of his career and hopes to earn a statement victory in Thailand.

Before his high-stakes battle with Naito, we look back at three of the 26-year-old’s impressive wins that showcased his immense talent.

Dominates Ogasawara From Bell To Bell

Already a multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion, Mahmoudi made his promotional debut in 2019 at ONE: HERO’S ASCENT against Japanese star Yukinori Ogasawara with lofty expectations surrounding him.

That night, the young Algerian lived up to the hype and put on an electrifying performance.

In a true display of all-around striking, Mahmoudi battered his foe at every range of combat, using flashy spinning kicks on the outside along with punishing power punches and vicious knees and elbows in close.

Even though Ogasawara lasted the full three rounds, the one-sided beating immediately established Mahmoudi as an athlete with World Championship potential.

Technical Masterclass Against Lerdsila

In December 2019 at ONE: MARK OF GREATNESS, the Mahmoudi Gym representative earned the biggest win of his career when he scored a thrilling decision over decorated Thai legend Lerdsila Phuket Top Team.

Mahmoudi’s all-action, fan-friendly style was on full display, but it was his fight IQ and technical acumen that truly shined that night in Kuala Lumpur.

Armed with an explosive and unpredictable kicking game, “The Sniper” applied constant pressure as he picked apart the Thai’s world-renowned defenses. As the fight dragged on, he seemed to only gain steam, pulverizing his foe’s legs and body with ruthless intent.

With this incredible victory under his belt, Mahmoudi erased any doubts that he belonged with the absolute best of the best.

Demolishes Tabares Inside One Round

In his most recent outing at ONE Fight Night 13, “The Sniper” put on the most vicious performance of his ONE tenure, needing less than two minutes to tally three knockdowns against former ONE World Title challenger Edgar Tabares.

Fired up in front of a raucous Lumpinee Stadium crowd, Mahmoudi blitzed the Mexican standout in the opening seconds to score an early knockdown.

From there, it was one-way traffic, as he continued to pour on the pressure and throw the kitchen sink at the overpowered Tabares.

In a matter of seconds, Mahmoudi sent his opponent crashing to the canvas twice more to secure the TKO victory and further solidify himself as one of the organization’s most terrifying contenders.

That knockout win was the Algerian’s first finish in ONE and could signal that he’s planning to attack Naito with nonstop aggression on August 2.
