ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee lives up to her nickname.

The 21-year-old Singapore representative rocks an undefeated professional record of 8-0, with seven of those victories coming via spectacular finsh. Although Lee has used her grappling expertise to absolute perfection, she has also displayed a dynamic striking prowess, and it is only getting better.

Lee makes her return to the cage on Friday, 18 May, when she defends her coveted title against Mei “V.V.” Yamaguchi at ONE: UNSTOPPABLE DREAMS in Singapore. The headlining tilt serves as a rematch of their multiple Bout of the Year-winning epic from 2016.

As “Unstoppable” prepares for her main event showdown, relive four of the best stoppage victories that have undoubtedly made her one of the world’s greatest female martial artists.

Her Twister Of Natalie Gonzales Hills

HIGHLIGHT: Angela Lee's Twister Submission

Because we know you need to see that TWISTER submission by Angela Lee again…

Posted by ONE Championship on Friday, November 13, 2015

After a pair of quick submission wins to open her professional career, Lee made a statement in her third professional bout.

In November 2015, she met the Philippines’ Natalie “The Kilapino” Gonzales Hills at ONE: PRIDE OF LIONS, and the Singaporean had the type of performance that truly put her on the map.

The two spent the first 30 seconds exchanging knees in the clinch, but Hills displayed confidence by attacking the Singaporean with body kicks and a heavy right hand. She even threw Lee to the canvas, and jumped in her guard.

However, Lee displayed why she is a master ground technician. She swept “The Kilapino,” and initially dropped strikes before standing up to survey the situation. “Unstoppable” stepped over her sitting opponent, got into side control, and then the full mount. As Gonzales Hills tried shaking her off, Lee took her back, and beautifully set up the rarely-seen twister.

Before she challenged for the inaugural ONE Women’s Atomweight World Championship, Lee had to prove herself once more. In February 2016, at ONE: TRIBE OF WARRIORS, she clashed with Rebecca Heintzman-Rozewski, and proved she was in fact the real deal.

It started out as a clinch battle, with both combatants throwing knees and jockeying for position. Lee got a pair of trip takedowns, the second of which landed her in the mount.

The Singaporean used it to her advantage, as she softened her up with punches and fished for submissions. Though Heintzman-Rozewski continued to scramble, she t00k a few knees, and had to fend off a Peruvian necktie.

Despite Heintzman-Rozewski landing a flying punch to kick off the second round, Lee dragged her to the ground, and immediately fired off more knees. “Unstoppable” then coiled around her body, secured the body in a figure four, and then sunk in a neck crank to earn the tap.

Just like that, it was clear as day: Lee was ready for the world title.

Lee Gets Her Long-Awaited Knockout

Can the "Unstoppable" be stopped? Stay tuned in 2018.

Merely 10 months after capturing the inaugural ONE Women’s Atomweight World Championship via unanimous decision, Lee wanted to have a thunderous first title defense.

Also, she wanted to display her new and improved stand-up game she acquired from the Muay Thai world champions at Evolve MMA, and get back to her finishing ways.

The Singaporean traveled to Bangkok, Thailand, in March 2017 to defend her coveted belt against Chinese Taipei’s Jenny “Lady GoGo” Huang in the main event of ONE: WARRIOR KINGDOM. Evidently, she accomplished both of her goals.

Lee blitzed her Taiwanese opponent in the first stanza with an assortment of powerful kicks, straight punches, fierce knees, and powerful combinations. She kept the pressure on during the second frame, methodically wearing down the durable “Lady GoGo.”

In the third round, however, Lee finished her off. “Unstoppable” put Huang in a headlock, brought her straight to the canvas with a head snap takedown, strategically worked for the back mount, and threw punches until the referee waved off the bout.

Not only did Lee have her first successful title defense, but she had her first victory by strikes.

Submitting Istela Nunes Against All Odds

Two epic rounds, ONE world champion.

Posted by ONE Championship on Wednesday, December 13, 2017

Lee faced one of the toughest battles of her life back in May 2017. A week out from her main event showdown with Brazil’s Istela Nunes at ONE: DYNASTY OF HEROES in Singapore, she went to the hospital, and was diagnosed with a form of pneumonia.

Understandably, that made training virtually impossible, but the hometown hero was determined to defend her championship, and not disappoint the hometown crowd. In fact, she turned down repeated calls to withdraw.

Nunes spent the opening minute of the contest sticking and moving with kicks and punches. Soon, Lee clinched up with the visiting Brazilian, and brought her to the ground. She spent a considerable amount of time grappling for a more favorable position, eventually taking the Brazilian’s back to attempt a rear-naked choke, and then a twister. Nunes, however, would not go down easily.

The second round began in much the same way, but Lee caught a leg kick, and brought the Brazilian down. Although Nunes tried getting back up, “Unstoppable” locked in what appeared to be a D’Arce choke, and then tripped her to the ground, where she applied an anaconda choke. She readjusted to tighten up the hold, and forced the tap nearly halfway into the frame.

It was undoubtedly Lee’s finest moment yet.
