5 Facts About Pound-For-Pound Striking Queen Anissa Meksen

Anissa Meksen Gold Front 1200X800

ONE: EMPOWER is the perfect platform for Anissa “C18” Meksen to announce herself on the global stage.

The groundbreaking all-female event this Friday, 3 September, will offer Meksen — one of the most decorated women in combat sports — the chance to showcase her incredible skills in front of a massive international audience.

Before her ONE Super Series atomweight kickboxing debut against Cristina Morales, learn about the French striking legend who has her eyes on promotional gold.

#1 She’s Decorated In Multiple Striking Styles

Meksen is a complete striker who’s used her varied repertoire to claim an undeniably impressive collection of accolades.

In kickboxing, she counts the Glory and ISKA World Titles among her successes. And in Muay Thai, she’s won both the WBC and WMC World Titles.

“C18” is also a French, European, and World Champion in her home country’s striking art of savate, and she owns a perfect professional boxing record of 2-0.

#2 She’s The Pound-For-Pound Queen

Meksen has been widely considered the greatest pound-for-pound female striker since 2017.

And her dominance across such a wide range of sports, promotions, and weight divisions has ensured that none of her peers have been able to knock her off that top spot.

But now, given the elite level of opposition in ONE, “C18” will face the greatest test of her status in the stand-up world.

#3 She Has Brains And Brawn

Meksen has dedicated her life to martial arts, and her resume speaks for itself, but she is not just physically exceptional.

In fact, the 33-year-old Paris resident also holds degrees in both Sports Performance and Training Methodology.

“C18’s” cerebral approach to competition has undoubtedly helped her achieve the consistent success she’s enjoyed in combat sports.

#4 A Superhuman Nickname

“Dragon Ball Z” is a favorite for many martial artists, and the Japanese anime series offered up Meksen’s nickname.

“Android 18” — an enhanced martial artist with inexhaustible energy reserves — is a character from the cult TV show, and Meksen’s training partners took to calling her “C18” (the name in the Italian adaptation) because of her seemingly never-ending stamina reserves.

Interestingly, she is not the only ONE star to bear this moniker. Itsuki “Android 18” Hirata also took the name of the popular cyborg and will be featuring alongside Meksen at ONE: EMPOWER.

#5 Her hero Is Michael Jordan

The Tiger Muay Thai fighter’s favorite athlete does not come from the world of combat.

Instead, Meksen’s sporting idol is legendary American basketball player Michael Jordan. Jordan is hailed as the greatest player of all time, and that’s the kind of legacy “C18” would like to leave in her own sport.

Not just a fan of MJ’s prowess on the court, the French striker also owns more than 100 pairs of Nike Air Jordan shoes.
