5 Major Storylines Heading Into ONE On Prime Video 4

Rodtang Jitmuangnon lands an uppercut on Jacob Smith at ONE 157

ONE Championship’s fourth show on streaming giant Prime Video has all the makings of a dramatic, unforgettable night of world-class fights.

ONE on Prime Video 4 will go down this Friday, November 18, and martial arts fans worldwide have plenty of reasons to tune in live during North American primetime.

Whether it’s the pair of explosive World Title bouts atop the card, an intriguing submission grappling matchup, or the return of a popular megastar, the blockbuster event is packed with compelling angles.

As fight week begins, here are five major storylines heading into ONE on Prime Video 4.

#1 Two World Champions Challenge For Double-Gold

The two headlining bouts feature a pair of reigning ONE World Champions looking to gain prestigious double-champ status.

In the main event, ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian Lee moves up in weight to challenge ONE Welterweight World Champion Kiamrian Abbasov for 26 pounds of gold.

Already a global superstar at just 24 years old, Lee’s popularity would explode exponentially if he’s able to wrest the belt from the dangerously powerful Abbasov.

The co-main event will see ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion Joseph Lasiri challenge current ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon in what should be a fast-paced firefight.

The Moroccan-Italian sensation shocked the globe when he defeated legendary Thai athlete Prajanchai PK.Saenchai in May at ONE 157 to capture the strawweight Muay Thai belt. Now, Lasiri hopes to continue his incredible Cinderella run and secure his second World Title against another world-renowned striker.

#2 The Return Of Rodtang

Known as “The Iron Man” for his astounding durability, flyweight Muay Thai king Rodtang has fans salivating over his first fight since a dominant victory over Jacob Smith at ONE 157.

Simply put, the Thai superstar is must-see television each and every time he steps into the Circle – and that includes this co-main event World Title defense against Lasiri.

With his seemingly granite chin, dazzling Muay Thai technique, and thunderous power, it’s no surprise that Rodtang is arguably the promotion’s biggest and brightest star.

To make matters more interesting, this will be “The Iron Man’s” first defense of his ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title since 2020, leaving fans clamoring to see him back in another five-round thriller.

#3 BJJ Vs. Sambo: The Rivalry Continues

In a battle for submission grappling supremacy, elite BJJ black belt Danielle Kelly will tussle with four-time Sambo World Champion Mariia Molchanova.

Their showdown represents another chapter in the budding rivalry between Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and sambo – two martial arts that specialize in ground fighting and submissions.

Jiu-jitsu currently leads that rivalry within ONE Championship – first with Rodrigo Marello submitting Ruslan Bagdasarian in September at ONE 161, and then with Kade Ruotolo tapping Uali Kurzhev a month later at ONE on Prime Video 3.

Both Kelly and Molchanova come into this match with something to prove and motivation to show that their respective discipline is the most effective in submission grappling.

#4 Is Bibiano Fernandes Still Elite?

Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes ruled the shark-infested waters of ONE’s bantamweight division for nearly a decade.

But after losing his ONE Bantamweight World Title to the power-punching hands of John Lineker in March at ONE: LIGHTS OUT, fans and media alike are wondering if Fernandes still has the elite skills that made him an 11-time ONE World Champion.

On Friday, the Brazilian can prove he still belongs in the upper echelon when he squares off with surging Filipino phenom Stephen Loman.

Fernandes will look to use his world-class submission game to hand “The Sniper” his first defeat inside the Circle, silencing any doubters along the way.

Plus, “The Flash” wants to protect his #3 ranking in the bantamweight division, while #5-ranked Loman will aim to extend his 10-fight winning streak and launch himself into World Title contention.

#5 Two Superstars Make Their Bantamweight Debuts

Finally, ONE on Prime Video 4 features a pair of established ONE superstars making their first appearances at bantamweight.

Former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Jonathan Haggerty – a longtime fan favorite for his blazing-fast striking – steps up in weight to test himself against 24-year-old Russian standout Vladimir Kuzmin.

And in the opening bout of the main card, former #2-ranked featherweight MMA contender Kim Jae Woong drops down to face former ONE Bantamweight World Champion Kevin Belingon in a pivotal matchup for each man’s career.

Tune in this Friday to see how these ONE veterans perform in their new weight class – each hoping to kick-start a new journey toward World Title gold.
