Stamp Fairtex And Alma Juniku's 4 Keys To Victory In Shanghai

PressCon_StampAlma2_June2019

Stamp Fairtex and Alma Juniku have all the tools to deliver a scintillating main event at ONE: LEGENDARY QUEST this Saturday, 15 June.

With the ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Title on the line in Shanghai, China, both athletes will bring power, skill, and aggression to the ring as they attempt to leave with gold around their waist.

Both athletes are young, but they are so skilled, it is likely this match-up will be decided by the finest of margins at the Baoshan Arena.

The young phenoms have a full range of weapons from “the art of eight limbs” in their arsenals, but these could be their most important techniques in their headline encounter.

#1 Stamp’s Powerful Right Hand

In her World Title-winning match against Janet “JT” Todd, Stamp delivered an emphatic performance, but one that was almost a complete contrast to her promotional debut against “Killer Bee” Kai Ting Chuang.

The 21-year-old was known for her strong kicks and dominant clinch, but it was her razor-sharp boxing game that helped her to overcome the American.

Stamp walked her rival down to landed her right hand with frequency and power. It came behind her left hook or jab, as a lone strike – particularly over Todd’s jab – and as a counter to kicks.

Aggressive, volume punching could be the antidote to Juniku’s style, and the Thai superstar’s ability to push the pace could put her on the path to victory in her first World Title defense.

#2 Juniku’s Piercing Jab

If Stamp chooses to come forward with boxing, Juniku can try to ease the pressure by maintaining her range.

The WBC and IPCC Muay Thai World Champion is the taller of the combatants and will enjoy a reach advantage, which will be maximized if she can score with her straight punches.

The 18-year-old’s jab is particularly effective. It is long and stiff, which means it can be used to halt Stamp’s advances and deal damage.

If the defending World Champion walks into the shot with enough momentum, then Juniku may hit the perfect set up for her powerful right straight or overhand to follow it up.

#3 Stamp’s Close-Range Weapons

Under her favored Muay Thai rules, two-sport ONE World Champion Stamp can lean more heavily on her strong clinching game.

If the Fairtex Training Center representative can close the distance behind her punches and grab her opponent, she will attack relentlessly with knees and elbows, but the strikes are not the only thing Juniku will have to worry about.

Stamp makes use of expert timing to disrupt her rivals’ balance and turn, sweep, or dump them to the mat. Her techniques can give her the space to throw a quick strike, show her dominance, or drain their energy levels by repeatedly forcing them to pull themselves back up off the canvas.

#4 Juniku’s Catch And Counter

If Juniku can maintain her distance and force Stamp into a longer-range battle, then the Pattaya resident will have to bring her kicks back into play.

Stamp has damaging right kicks to the legs and body, but the Australian rising star is quick to catch and counter.

If the defending World Champion takes aim at her midsection with her thudding right kick, expect Juniku to grab hold and dump her to the canvas with a lightning-fast sweep, or take aim with her free right hand to score damaging blows.
