‘This Is Going To Be A Great Event’ – Arjan Bhullar Amped Up For Historic ONE Fight Night 10
Arjan Bhullar has joined the legions of fans and combat sports aficionados who are looking forward to ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III on Prime Video.
The ONE Heavyweight World Champion can’t wait for the promotion’s North American debut to hit the airwaves on Friday, May 5, because he knows the stacked fight card will make a huge impression live in U.S. primetime.
Many of ONE’s brightest stars are ready to showcase their skills at the sold-out 1stBank Center in Colorado, and Bhullar will be looking out for a few in particular.
Check out his take on some of the most exciting matchups set to alight the American crowd at the historic event in Denver.
Bhullar Predicts ONE Fight Night 10 Main Event
The main event is a ONE Flyweight World Title trilogy bout between reigning king Demetrious Johnson and the division’s former ruler Adriano Moraes.
Top-ranked Moraes has been the most dominant flyweight in ONE history, and he proved why when he knocked out the man many call the greatest of all time in April 2021.
However, “Mighty Mouse” redeemed himself in August 2022, and now the pair are even at 1-1 with everything to play for.
Bhullar knows this fight has all the makings of a barnburner, but he does have a favorite in this epic flyweight throwdown.
He said:
“DJ versus Moraes’ trilogy is going to be very technical, and it’s going to be exciting. It’s good to see that it’s a sold-out event for the U.S. debut. It falls on the same day as Cinco de Mayo, too. Usually, big fights happen on that date, so everything is lined up.
“I think maybe DJ takes this. He made some good adjustments in the last fight and looked very much like the old DJ. I’m going to stick with him. But Moraes is very dangerous and big. He’s done it once, he could do it again. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the young lion takes him out as well.
“I’m going to pick DJ because of the experience. He’s been in so many big fights. It’s the U.S. debut event, a sold-out show in Colorado with a lot of hype. All those things will matter.”
Bhullar Praises De Ridder, Still Picking Ruotolo In Grappling Battle
Another huge battle that has caught Bhullar’s eye is the middleweight submission grappling contest between ONE Middleweight World Champion Reinier “The Dutch Knight” de Ridder and IBJJF World Champion Tye Ruotolo.
“Singh” and “The Dutch Knight” have traded barbs in the past, but the Canadian-Indian has a lot of respect for De Ridder’s skill set.
While he admits grappling phenom Ruotolo will likely have the edge as a specialist in his field, Bhullar believes the ONE Middleweight World Champion will give the American a run for his money when they tangle inside the Circle.
He said:
“I’m excited to see RDR already back out there. I think he got caught up in his own hype. But this grappling match with Tye is perfect for him. It’s right up his alley. That is what his wheelhouse is.
“At the same time, grappling without being able to strike is completely different. So, he’s going into Tye’s world, but it’s exciting. This is what ONE Championship is about, different martial arts being showcased. So, it’s good to see.
“Absolutely, RDR can win this. He has gone in there with top-level guys in the past, Galvao among others, and he’s been grappling for a long, long time. So, can he win this? Yes. Does he win this? I don’t think so. Tye is a specialist. He’s used to grappling without strikes, and he has the momentum behind him.”
Bhullar Excited For Two Sophomore Appearances
With 11 bouts confirmed for the epic card on May 5, there’s no shortage of enticing matchups to look forward to. However, “Singh” is especially intrigued by a couple of names that spark some interest.
The heavyweight king has his eyes on two rising stars who had disappointing ONE debuts. He’s eager to see how they respond when they return to the Circle for their respective second outings.
Bhullar said:
“This is going to be a great event. [We’ll] get to see Sage [Northcutt] again. He’s making a comeback [against Ahmed Mujtaba]. I’m curious to see how he looks after coming back from what he had to overcome.
“‘Robocop’ [Roberto Soldic] is back as well [against Zebaztian Kadestam]. He toughed out last time, so let’s see how he responds.
“I hope I’m there to see it in person, but if not I’ll be definitely tuning in online.”
