‘Fireworks, Excitement, Entertainment’ – Denis Puric Promises Epic Battle With Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat
Denis “The Bosnian Menace” Puric’s biggest focus ahead of ONE Fight Night 17: Kryklia vs. Roberts on Prime Video is giving the fans a fight to remember.
Above all, the Bosnian-Canadian slugger wants to showcase the relentless style he’s become known for in his flyweight Muay Thai matchup with “No.1” Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat in U.S. primetime on Friday, December 8.
While a victory is always the goal, Puric would never want to deliver it at the expense of action.
And with the bout airing live to more than 190 countries from Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, he knows there’s a massive audience tuning in.
The 38-year-old told onefc.com:
“Fireworks, excitement, entertainment. A lot of fighters forget that we are entertainers. That’s one of my strong points – I go out there, I fight, and I entertain. I always put on a good show and make sure that we leave that place with the crowd happy and remembering my fight.
“Whether you win or lose, it doesn’t really matter as long as you go out there, do your best, put on a good show, give it all you got, and make it exciting. That’s exactly what fans should expect from me in this fight.”
Following a defeat to Thai legend Yodlekpet “The Destroyer” Or Atchariya last time out, Puric is convinced that going in with a dedicated strategy is not the best option against Duy Nhat.
Instead, he’s planning to let loose, put his trademark intensity on display, and let the chips fall where they may:
“There’s no game plan. Just go and fight. In my last fight, I had a game plan, and I lost because I stuck to the stupid game plan. I’m not doing this game plan stuff.
“My coach told me, ‘Bro, fight your fight, and you’re gonna crush this guy.’ So that’s what we’re gonna do.”
Denis Puric Plans To Pressure ‘Headhunter’ Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat
Denis Puric acknowledges that Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat owns some potent weapons, but he believes he will have a stronger arsenal when they clash in Thailand next month.
Duy Nhat has produced impressive stoppage victories in both of his ONE appearances, with his lightning-fast head kicks being his most notable offense.
However, Puric doesn’t think there’s anything else to worry about, and he expects to have answers for anything the Vietnamese star throws his way:
“I looked him up, watched some of his stuff. He moves well. He’s got some good head kicks. He’s a legit guy, but I think I have more tools than him.
“I have to be careful of those head kicks, but other than that, I don’t see any threats. I don’t see a lot of other things that he has. He doesn’t have my boxing. I have more power, I think. I also move well.
“I’m not really threatened by this guy. As long as I’m in good shape and my cardio is up, I’ve got nothing to worry about.”
Puric may not be locking in a detailed plan for Duy Nhat, but he does think there’s a stronger route to victory.
More specifically, he will look to get in “No.1’s” face, trade heavy leather, and see whether his opponent can handle the heat.
The Team CSK representative added:
“I think his kicks and his footwork are the only two things that he’s got. I think I’ve got everything else. I’ve got footwork, the hands, the good movement, and I’ve got a chin on me that you can’t put away easily.
“I think I’ve just gotta press him against the ropes and give it to him. He doesn’t have those close-range weapons, and that’s where I come in with these stones in his face. I have to try to trap him against the ropes, keep him there, and punish him.
“He’s a headhunter and I’m a body snatcher, so we’ll see who gets who first.”
