13 Explosive Fights Confirmed For ONE 157: Petchmorakot Vs. Vienot
The inaugural ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix and a pair of grappling matches were recently announced for ONE Championship’s next event. Now, the headliners and a total of 13 fights have been confirmed.
On Friday, 20 May, the world’s largest martial arts organization returns to the Singapore Indoor Stadium with ONE 157: Petchmorakot vs. Vienot, which is topped by a pair of Muay Thai World Title bouts.
The main event features a hard-hitting battle for the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Championship, as Petchmorakot Petchyindee defends his gold against French challenger Jimmy Vienot.
Petchmorakot, who has an astonishing 163 victories in his career, captured the division’s inaugural belt in 2020.
He’s successfully defended it twice since then, defeating Thai legend “The Boxing Computer” Yodsanklai Fairtex and Swedish star Magnus “Crazy Viking” Andersson.
Although the Petchyindee Academy standout has established himself as the undisputed king, there is reason to believe that Vienot could end his reign.
The 26-year-old Frenchman is a former Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion, a former WBC World Champion, and a two-time WMC World Champion.
He owns 51 wins, which include victories over Rafi Bohic, Yodwicha Banchamek, and Petchmorakot’s training partner, Sorgraw Petchyindee.
Moreover, Vienot will enter the contest with a 2-inch height advantage over Petchmorakot and momentum from a pair of title wins. In Singapore, he’ll look to add the richest prize in the sport to his collection.
In the ONE 157 co-main event, Prajanchai PK.Saenchai will make his first ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Title defense against Italian challenger Joseph “The Hurricane” Lasiri.
Their matchup was originally slated for ONE: LIGHTS OUT this past March, but Lasiri suffered an injury during training camp, causing the bout to be postponed.
On 20 May, fans should expect to see both lethal strikers move forward with their best weapons as soon as the opening bell rings.
In addition to those World Title affairs, ONE 157 will include a heavyweight kickboxing clash between surging strikers Rade Opacic and Guto Inocente, as well as the MMA debut of Muay Thai sensation Nat “Wondergirl” Jaroonsak.
Also, the show will feature a pair of MMA bouts that were originally scheduled to happen earlier this year.
Asha “Knockout Queen” Roka finally returns to face Alyse “Lil’ Savage” Anderson, while Elipitua “The Magician” Siregar collides with Robin “The Ilonggo” Catalan.
