3 Big Reasons Why You Can’t Miss ONE: FOR HONOR

Muay Thai legend Sam-A Gaiyanghadao

This Friday, 3 May, ONE Championship returns to Jakarta, Indonesia with a stacked card topped by a fantastic Muay Thai World Title bout.

The world’s largest martial arts organization promises to deliver another huge night of thrilling action when ONE: FOR HONOR broadcasts live from the Istora Senayan.

With less than a week to go before event night, here are three big reasons why fans should check out this 14-bout spectacle.

#1 Legend Faces Young Lion In World Title Showdown

The ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship will be contested in the night’s main event, as Muay Thai legend Sam-A Gaiyanghadao puts his belt on the line against dynamic new contender Jonathan “The General” Haggerty.

England’s Haggerty produced an outstanding performance in his ONE Super Series debut in January, as he defeated Muay Thai World Champion Joseph “The Hurricane” Lasiri and announced himself as a serious threat to Sam-A’s gold.

Now, the 22-year-old will look to capitalize on the opportunity of a lifetime when he challenges the Evolve representative, who captured the inaugural ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title with a brilliant fourth-round knockout victory over Sergio “Samurai” Wielzen last May.

Will the legendary Sam-A register career victory number 367, or will the young lion from the United Kingdom shock the world and claim the biggest prize in the sport?

#2 Yushin Okami Makes His ONE Debut

Japanese mixed martial arts veteran Yushin “Thunder” Okami will make his promotional debut against dangerous Kyrgyz grappler Kiamrian Abbasov in a pivotal bout that could potentially decide the next challenger for Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam‘s ONE Welterweight World Championship.

Okami has plied his trade around the world in his 47-bout career, and he will look to strike gold on his home continent as he embarks on the latest chapter of his martial arts journey.

However, will face an opponent who is quickly breaking into the World Title picture. Abbasov dominated Agilan Thani last December and delivered a statement to the rest of the division with his 20th career win.

At the very least, an impressive victory will move the winner within striking distance of a ONE Welterweight World Title opportunity.

#3 A Local Showcase For Indonesia’s Finest

ONE: FOR HONOR is absolutely packed with homegrown heroes who are sure to get the native crowd on its feet.

Women’s atomweight star Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol will headline the local talent showcase when she aims to return to the win column at the expense of Kun Khmer World Champion Nou Srey Pov.

There will also be another exciting Indonesia versus Cambodia match-up when surging flyweight Rudy “The Golden Boy” Agustian squares off against Chan Rothana.

In addition to that, the crowd-pleasing Adrian “Papua Badboy” Mattheis will aim to complete a hat trick of stoppage victories in the strawweight division when he takes on Indian national wushu champion Himanshu Kaushik.

Finally, there will be a pair of all-Indonesian battles, as Paul Lumihi meets “The Terminator” Sunoto in bantamweight action, and Guntur draws Angelo “The Unicorn King” Bimoadji in the kickoff bout.

All the Indonesian athletes are sure to receive a huge welcome from the passionate and knowledgeable home crowd.
