4 ONE Championship Superstars Earn Performance Bonuses At ONE Fight Night 9
Four ONE Championship athletes took home performance bonuses thanks to their sensational highlight-reel finishes at ONE Fight Night 9: Nong-O vs. Haggerty, which emanated from the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 21.
ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong handed out bonuses to Team Lakay prince Jhanlo Mark Sangiao, Tongan star Isi Fitikefu, Brazilian striker Felipe Lobo, and newly crowned ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Jonathan Haggerty.
In the main event, “The General” not only captured the bantamweight Muay Thai crown and defeated a legendary fighter in Nong-O Hama, but he also earned a massive US$100,000 bonus for his incredible victory.
Haggerty’s boxing was both ruthless and precise, as he put the longtime divisional king on the canvas three times, with the final highlight-reel knockdown coming at 2:40 of the first round.
The 26-year-old put on a truly spectacular performance, snapping Nong-O’s 10-fight winning streak in the process.
Lobo couldn’t have asked for a better night, as the Brazilian striker authored an unforgettable comeback victory over #1-ranked bantamweight Muay Thai contender Saemapetch Fairtex.
Despite suffering a knockdown in the second round, “Demolition Man” stormed back in the final frame to overwhelm, daze, and finish the Thai star via KO to secure a $US50,000 performance bonus.
In welterweight MMA action, Fitikefu earned his first promotional victory and a well-deserved performance bonus with his first-round submission win over Valmir Da Silva.
“Doxz” quickly took the action to the canvas, powered through the Brazilian’s guard, moved to the back with expert precision, and then sunk in the bout-ending rear-naked choke to secure a cool US$50,000.
Sangiao took home the first US$50,000 performance bonus of the night due to his lightning-quick submission win.
The 20-year-old phenom needed just 58 seconds to secure a nasty kneebar and force promotional newcomer Matias Farinelli to tap out. In the process, the Filipino extended his unbeaten record to 6-0 and kept his 100 percent finishing rate intact.
