4-Part ‘ONE On TNT’ Event Series Confirmed For U.S. Prime Time
ONE Championship previously announced a blockbuster event to be broadcast live on United States prime-time television during the second quarter of 2021, but that was just the tip of the iceberg.
The promotion, along with Turner Broadcasting, has now confirmed much bigger plans for the inaugural season of “ONE on TNT.” Instead of one show, a four-part event series will air new martial arts cards every Wednesday night in the U.S. for four consecutive weeks, beginning on 7 April.
Each “ONE on TNT” event will feature three preliminary card bouts that can be digitally streamed on the B/R App and B/R Live at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST). The three main card bouts will be televised exclusively on TNT following the conclusion of “AEW Dynamite” at 10 p.m. EST.
“We are absolutely thrilled to kick off 2021 with the announcement of our first season of ‘ONE on TNT,’” ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong said in a statement.
“We look forward to introducing our unique brand of martial arts to the U.S. on prime time. American fans can expect something fresh, new, and completely different from anything that is currently available in the U.S. As always, we will feature some of the greatest World Champions across various martial arts alongside a few familiar, legendary names.”
“ONE on TNT I,” which takes place on 7 April, will be headlined the previously announced World Title bout between reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes and his challenger, ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.
That card will also feature the lightweight mixed martial arts clash between Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez and #2-ranked contender Iuri Lapicus, as well as the non-World Title matchup between ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon and British hard-hitter Jacob Smith.
“ONE on TNT II” will air on 14 April and features ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian “The Warrior” Lee defending his crown against #3-ranked contender Timofey Nastyukhin in the main event.
“ONE on TNT III” will go down on 21 April. That card will be headlined by the long-awaited trilogy bout between former ONE Middleweight World Champion Vitaly Bigdash and former middleweight king and reigning ONE Light Heavyweight World Champion Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang. Whoever emerges victorious will become the #1 contender in the middleweight division.
Finally, “ONE on TNT IV” will cap off the season on 28 April. The main event for the finale will be announced in the coming weeks.
