A Deep Look Inside Superbon’s Friendships With ONE Superstars Rodtang And Nong-O

Superbon Singha Mawynn stands in the Circle at ONE Fight Night 6

Former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon Singha Mawynn loves to pal around with other legendary strikers. In fact, a simple glance at his social media reveals just that.

The Thai dynamo – who is now in the final preparations for his clash against Tayfun Ozcan at ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov on Prime Video this Friday, June 9 – has particularly strong bonds with fellow ONE Championship superstars Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Nong-O Hama.

Ahead of his big return at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, Superbon spoke to ONEFC.com about his friendships with his beloved countrymen.

Superbon Loves Rodtang’s All-Action Style

Superbon Singha Mawynn used to live just down the road from ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon, but they only started building their bond after they signed with the world’s largest martial arts organization.

Once they had established themselves as global icons under the ONE banner, a friendship blossomed, thanks in part to “The Iron Man’s” outgoing nature and inimitable charisma. But also, the former featherweight kickboxing king has become a mentor of sorts to his compatriot.

Superbon explained:

“We became close after we joined ONE. He is a talkative person. He always calls me and asks for advice on various matters. If we fight on the same card, we often go out to eat together.”

Beyond their friendship, the 32-year-old has a tremendous amount of respect for “The Iron Man” and his electric style of fighting.

Rodtang has become world-famous for his granite chin and offensive-minded approach, and it reminds Superbon of some other legendary Thai strikers.

The Singha Mawynn Muay Thai representative said:

“He knows what he has to do to please fans. And his style is so entertaining. Like Buakaw [Banchamek] or Khaosai Galaxy, everyone will stop what they’re doing to watch their fights. Who doesn’t like watching fighters with aggressive styles and can absorb many attacks like them?”

Superbon Says Nong-O Is Still ‘Superhuman’

Superbon Singha Mawynn also benefits from his friendship and training with former longtime ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama.

While the two Thais were casual acquaintances for years, they recently started sharing tips of the trade and began sharpening their skills together in the gym.

Superbon said:

“I have known Nong-O for a long time. We met often in Singapore. But we just said hello when we met and had breakfast together. [We didn’t start] training together until my last two fights.”

Training alongside the former bantamweight Muay Thai kingpin has been an eye-opening experience for Superbon, exposing him to yet another level of striking greatness.

And despite Nong-O’s recent World Title loss to Jonathan Haggerty – his first defeat in eight years – Superbon believes he still possesses the incredible talent that helped him amass well over 250 career victories and established himself as one of the planet’s most revered stand-up practitioners.

He said:

“Nong-O is still superhuman to me. When I do sparring with him, I feel like I’m fighting with the one I’m no match for. He is still stronger than many fighters. I believe he will bounce back and win again. To be honest, it is hard to find a fighter who is really on the same level as him in this division.”
