‘A Different Kind Of Dedication’ – Sage Northcutt In Awe Of Stamp Fairtex’s Quest For Three-Sport Gold
Stamp Fairtex hasn’t just enamored martial arts fans around the globe – the Thai sensation has also captured the hearts of her peers in ONE Championship.
That includes American MMA star Sage Northcutt, and he can’t wait to see Stamp return against Ham Seo Hee in a ONE Interim Atomweight MMA World Title showdown at ONE Fight Night 14 on Prime Video in North American primetime on Friday, September 29.
More than just going for gold, Stamp is aiming to become an unprecedented three-sport World Champion at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
But while she’s already held the ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Titles, “Super” Sage thinks the 25-year-old Fairtex standout would propel herself to truly historic heights by capturing the mixed martial arts crown against Ham.
He told onefc.com:
“Stamp Fairtex is already a super bright star. I mean, she’s a two-sport World Champion. So if she gets to be a three-sport World Champion, that’s nuts.
“To be able to win World Titles in three different sports is pretty phenomenal. I’ve only heard of people ever winning a World Title in one sport, so that definitely takes a different kind of dedication to be able to do that.”
Northcutt fought on the same card as Stamp at ONE’s United States debut back in May, and he certainly felt the buzz that she generated throughout fight week.
He also got to see firsthand some of the reasons why fans around the world love her so much. Her martial arts skills were a huge part of it, but her fun-loving personality endeared her to people on a personal level.
Northcutt recalled:
“I got to meet Stamp at my fight on May 5. Stamp is a character. She’s hilarious. We were waiting for a press conference, and she’s pulling pranks on me in the line. She’s definitely a prankster, super funny. She’s got a personality, that’s for sure.
“I was [in the arena] for her fight and got to see the crowd just went berserk. They were so excited with her walkout, her charisma, and her dancing. And also on top of that, her performance, and how incredibly sharp she is.”
Sage Northcutt Predicts ‘Fireworks’ From Stamp Fairtex At ONE Fight Night 14
While Stamp Fairtex is an entertainer outside of the Circle, she’s proven equally capable of providing drama inside of it.
And when she goes up against aggressive South Korean competitor Ham Seo Hee for the ONE Interim Atomweight MMA World Title at ONE Fight Night 14, Northcutt knows the result will be an action-packed thriller.
He said:
“[Stamp is] an incredible fighter. So I think there’s no way that this fight and her opponent aren’t going to be fireworks. I think that is going to be a big hit. I think fans are gonna love it. I know that I’m gonna love it too!”
Stamp grew up in striking sports and captured prestigious gold in both Muay Thai and kickboxing, but she always had the goal of competing in elite mixed martial arts.
To do that, she’s worked hard to round out every area of her game, and Northcutt thinks those improvements will be key when she meets a seasoned veteran of MMA on September 29.
But if the Fairtex product can keep the fight in her favored range, Northcutt thinks she has every chance to make history.
He added:
“This is going to be super exciting. I think that Stamp has probably been drilling a lot of takedown defense and a lot of wrestling and grappling defense.
“If she can keep it on the feet, that’s where her bread and butter is right there, with Muay Thai and kickboxing.”
