Adrian Mattheis Taps Out To Kritsada Kongsrichai's Ground Assault
In the second preliminary bout of ONE: WARRIOR KINGDOM, Thai wrestling champion Kritsada “Dream Man” Kongsrichai (5-3) took on ONE Indonesia Strawweight Tournament champion Adrian “Papua Badboy” Mattheis (2-2).
The two strawweights clashed in front of a raucous crowd at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
Mattheis, fresh off a loss at ONE: QUEST FOR POWER, burst forth from the opening bell with guns blazing. He started off strong, landing several powerful punching combinations that had Kongsrichai visibly stunned.
Kongsrichai was able to remain calm, however. He closed the distance on his Indonesian opponent, lifted him up off the ground, and ran halfway across the cage to land a powerful slam before moving into full mount.
Not to be outdone on the ground, the “Papua Badboy” was able to hip-escape and get to his feet. It would prove to be futile, however, as Kongsrichai stuck to him like glue the whole time, showing off his impressive wrestling chops as he sent Mattheis crashing back to the canvas with another takedown.
Sensing the end was near, “Dream Man” became a nightmare for the young Indonesian, connecting with several powerful elbows before working unsuccessfully for an arm triangle choke.
He then went right back to work, unleashing another relentless ground and pound assault on Mattheis and finding a home for several thudding elbows. This time, the Indonesian would not survive, and grudgingly tapped out to Kongsrichai’s barrage.
Referee Yuji Shimada intervened to bring an end to the contest at 2:51 of the very first round, giving the Thai native victory via submission due to strikes.
