Alyse Anderson To Return Against Victoria Souza At ONE 168: Denver
An intriguing atomweight MMA tilt has been added to ONE’s blockbuster return to the United States, as American standout Alyse “Lil’ Savage” Anderson will battle Brazilian athlete Victoria “Vick” Souza.
That bout will take place on September 6 at ONE 168: Denver, live in North American primetime at Ball Arena.
A well-rounded fighter with impressive athletic gifts and a knack for finding the finish, Michigan native Anderson will be competing for the first time since her high-profile loss to current ONE Atomweight MMA World Champion Stamp Fairtex last May at ONE Fight Night 10.
That contest also took place in Colorado as part of ONE’s historic U.S. debut, and “Lil’ Savage” now hopes to erase the memory of that defeat and remind her American fans what makes her so special.
Before her matchup with Stamp, Anderson scored a highlight-reel submission win over Indian sensation Asha “Knockout Queen” Roka, proving she has the skills to compete with the best of the best in ONE Championship.
For her part, Souza has also seen mixed results in the world’s largest martial arts organization.
After stumbling against the late Victoria Lee in her promotional debut, “Vick” bounced back with a scrappy decision win over Linda Darrow. But in her most recent appearance at ONE Fight Night 20, she dropped a fast-paced decision to French-Thai talent Noelle “Lil’ Monkey” Grandjean.
Before she squares off with Anderson in Denver, the Brazilian is first slated to take on Itsuki “Android 18” Hirata on June 7 at ONE 167: Tawanchai vs. Nattawut II on Prime Video, where she will look to pick up momentum.
What’s more, the matchup between Anderson and Souza on September 6 should produce fireworks.
Stylistically, neither athlete has any major weaknesses, and both possess deep gas tanks – creating the opportunity for an unforgettable war.
