Best Kickboxing Knockout Of 2023: Superbon Floors Ozcan With Insane Head Kick
With devastating power and accuracy in his kicks, Superbon Singha Mawynn is never more than a split second away from a highlight-reel finish.
The former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion delivered once again when he dispatched Tayfun “Turbine” Ozcan at ONE Fight Night 11 on Prime Video in June, finishing the Dutch-Turkish slugger in the second round of their clash at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The knockout is ONE’s best of 2023 in kickboxing and evoked memories of the Thai superstar’s mindblowing head kick finish of Giorgio Petrosyan back in 2021.
Superbon didn’t have it all his own way in his two-round tussle with Ozcan.
In round one, “Turbine” used his high-volume pressure style to wade in with flurries of punches that meant the Singha Mawynn representative had to retreat.
This forced Superbon to work off his back foot, which is not a problem for the adaptable 33-year-old. He greeted Ozcan with his rapid left body kick and used teeps to keep him at bay.
“Turbine” stayed true to his strategy in the second round – but his eagerness eventually led to his downfall.
Ozcan walked his foe down with punches again, but even in the face of this onslaught, Superbon was cooking up a plan.
When his marauding rival stepped in with a salvo of punches and off-balanced him with a hard right hand, Superbon adjusted his weight to his right leg.
From there, he unleashed an inch-perfect left high kick that collided with Ozcan’s chin, instantly separating him from his senses.
The spectacular stoppage will live on highlight reels for many years to come, and it moved Superbon one step closer to a shot at redemption against ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Chingiz Allazov.
