Brogan Stewart-Ng Wins Debut With Rear-Naked Choke Of Prach Buapa
Brogan “Broken Heart” Stewart-Ng, who trains alongside Thai pioneer Shannon “OneShin” Wiratchai, was triumphant in his professional mixed martial arts debut on Friday, 11 September.
The Bangkok Fight Lab representative needed less than a round to submit local star Prach “SuperBest” Buapa in their 67.5-kilogram catchweight bout at ONE: A NEW BREED II, which was previously recorded in Bangkok, Thailand.
Stewart-Ng got the finish with a rear-naked choke at 3:51 of round one, capping off a terrific grappling performance that overwhelmed his Thai foe.
While the Thailand-based Australian controlled the center of the ring and put his opponent on the back foot, it was Buapa – a 2018 One Shin Cup Champion – who came out firing in the opening round.
The man known as “SuperBest” opened the affair with a pair of right hands and then set the tone with a thudding leg kick.
He followed that with a cross-hook-cross combination that hit the mark but just missed with the combo’s punctuating body kick.
But just when it seemed like Buapa was finding his rhythm on the feet – especially as he stung the Australian Taekwondo Champion with a stiff left hand – everything changed when “Broken Heart” clinched up and pursued the takedown.

Buapa desperately tried to stay on his feet, even throwing punches at his foe’s ribs. However, the Australian would not be denied, as he maneuvered to the side of the Thai’s body, wrapped his hands around his adversary’s right arm and chest, and brought him to the ground.
Stewart-Ng immediately found himself with side control and put his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt credentials to good use.
The Aussie kept his body tight and started to advance his position on the canvas. While “Broken Heart” was in the half guard position, Buapa tried to escape and scramble back to his feet. But unfortunately for him, Stewart-Ng latched onto his back, aggressively dragged him back to the mat a few times, and eventually slid into full mount.
“SuperBest” rolled over in an attempt to escape once more, but that allowed the Australian to adjust his position, sink in his hooks, flatten his rival, and lock in an airtight rear-naked choke. The tap came seconds later.
It was a terrific professional debut for Stewart-Ng, and there’s no doubt Wiratchai will be pleased with his teammate’s stellar performance.
