Capitan Petchyindee Academy Makes History With 6-Second KO
Capitan Petchyindee Academy made history in his ONE Championship debut on Friday, 18 September.
The 27-year-old superstar knocked out six-time Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion Petchtanong Petchfergus in the co-main event of ONE: A NEW BREED III, which was previously recorded in Bangkok, Thailand.
At only six seconds, the knockout stands as the fastest-ever victory in the promotion’s all-striking branch, ONE Super Series.
Following a brief touch of the gloves, both Thailand natives took a step back and prepared to throw down in their ONE Super Series kickboxing bantamweight showdown.
When Petchtanong threw a jab from the southpaw stance to measure his distance, the orthodox Capitan batted down the punch, which opened up a clear target.
The Petchyindee Academy representative instantly bounced forward, launched a quick jab of his own, and then fired a right cross at his opponent’s face, which dropped the hook-swinging Petchtanong like a pile of bricks.
Once the 34-year-old veteran hit the canvas, the referee immediately waved off the action and Capitan excitedly ran to his cornerman.
The sensational KO moved the Petchyindee Academy standout’s phenomenal career record to 141-40.
Already a three-time Muay Thai World Champion, Capitan may have just paved the way for a run at ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov.
