Chatri: Iuri Lapicus ‘Stable’ After Suffering Injury
The “ONE on TNT I” co-main event ended in controversy, as mixed martial arts legend Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez was called for landing illegal strikes to the back of Iuri Lapicus’ head, which earned the American a red card and a disqualification.
Update: Friday, 9 April
Iuri Lapicus has been released from hospital and is back at the athlete hotel. ONE Championship’s medical team is checking in on him periodically.
The Moldovan was taken to a local hospital in Singapore for further testing, where the news was largely positive.
“We just got word right now that Iuri is in stable condition,” ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong said backstage. “His CAT scan results haven’t come back in yet, but he is in stable condition. His vitals are good.”
Lapicus will remain under observation at the hospital for the next 24 hours, and everyone at ONE Championship wishes him a safe and speedy recovery.
