The South Korean made his promotional debut a successful one, as he dominated boxing stylist Trestle “Jun Minion” Tan in a grueling three-round welterweight affair at ONE: PURSUIT OF POWER on Friday, 13 July.

Park, a winner of the first season of “Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series,” gave fans inside the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia a glimpse of his potential.

Both men started out the contest looking to strike. It did not take long, however, for the pair to get tangled up in a clinch against the cage fence.

Park, who impressed ONE Warrior Series CEO Rich Franklin with his well-rounded skills, showcased a tremendous clinch game. He soon hip-tossed the Filipino to the ground and controlled him with relative ease.

The South Korean unloaded heavy combinations from a dominant position, but to Tan’s credit, he weathered the early storm and exhibited good defense with his back on the canvas.

In the second frame, Tan came out much more aggressively, and looked to change the complexion of the contest.

“Crazy Dog,” however, continued to display his dominance in the clinch, and used a variety of methods to bring his opponent back to the ground where he had a distinct advantage. A series of knees to the head landed cleanly, as referee Kemp Cheng watched the action closely.

The third round saw much of the same action, with Park never wavering from his game plan. To the Filipino’s credit, he showed resilience and did his best to battle out of tough positions.

Ultimately, “Crazy Dog” was able to utilize his superb judo expertise. He took “Jun Minion” down to the mat seemingly at will, and he scored with a relentless volley of ground and pound.

All three judges scored the bout in favor of the 25-year-old South Korean, who leaves the Axiata Arena with a unanimous decision victory for his efforts.

Park becomes the second person from “Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series” to win inside the ONE cage. He improves his record to 8-2 (1 NC) and looks to continue his ascent up the welterweight ranks.
