‘Don’t Forget The Way You Were Sleeping’ – Marat Grigorian Warns Superbon Ahead Of Rematch
Marat Grigorian has been determined to get his hands on ONE Super Series gold ever since he entered the organization in 2020.
And this Saturday, 26 March, the Armenian superstar will get his chance in a highly anticipated rematch at ONE X.
The hard-hitting striker will challenge Superbon Singha Mawynn for the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title, and he’s ready to bring the heat at the historic 10-year anniversary show.
Fired up by his early exit from the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix due to illness, Grigorian can’t wait for this opportunity to wrap the sport’s most coveted prize around his waist.
He told ONE Championship:
“I was beating everybody in my last fights [before ONE]. I had a lot of belts – the biggest belts of the kickboxing organizations. This is now the biggest organization in the world. All the best kickboxing fighters are here, so I want to beat them all. I want to have all of them on my list.
“I was disappointed about being out of the Grand Prix tournament, and I was just thinking, ‘What will be next for me?’ because I’m the number one [contender] in this division, so they must give me a good fight. I’m happy I got Superbon.”
Superbon and Grigorian were old rivals before joining ONE, and with the Thai star riding high after a World Title-winning KO of Giorgio Petrosyan, it made sense to put together a rematch.
When they met back in 2018, the Hemmers Gym athlete knocked out Superbon in less than 30 seconds, so there’s a redemption angle for the reigning king.
At the same time, there’s a prestigious accolade up for grabs – and Grigorian is determined to take it.
He said:
“We have unfinished business because the last time we fought each other, I knocked him out in 28 seconds, so he wanted [to get] me back.
“Actually, after that KO, I was thinking he would get back up faster, but he laid on the ground a long time. Something really bad happened to him, so I think that is the reason [he wanted to face me again] – because he was really sleeping that time.
“I know he wants revenge. He’s welcome [to try].”
Marat Grigorian Wants Second KO Over Superbon At ONE X
Marat Grigorian plans to make lightning strike twice when he takes on Superbon at ONE X.
He knows the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion is dangerous and hungry to level the score, but that won’t deter him from chasing a second KO over the Singha Mawynn representative.
Still, Grigorian isn’t taking anything for granted, and he’s expecting a barnburner against the current top dog.
The Armenian said:
“Every fight is different. We are the top guys in this division, the world’s top kickboxers, so anything can happen.
“I’m coming to to knock him out, and he wants to do the same, so it will be a really good fight. The fans also want see that, so I know for sure it will be one of the best fights of the evening.
“I’m just focusing on the fight, entertaining the people, and giving them what they really want from Marat Grigorian – a stone-cold KO.”
However, if Superbon is expecting Grigorian to blitz him with hands like he did in their original encounter, he might be in for a shock.
While the challenger believes the outcome will be the same, he’s prepared more tools for this epic rematch, which will kick off the pay-per-view ONE X: Grand Finale card.
Grigorian added:
“I can’t say the game plan, but it will come with big surprises. I can do many, many things. We are just sharpening our weapons.
“[Superbon], don’t forget the way you were sleeping because I’m coming for that again.”
