Former Titleholders Petchtanong And Alaverdi Ramazanov Booked For Kickboxing Clash At ONE Fight Night 23
ONE Fight Night 23: Buntan vs. Meksen on Prime Video is rapidly shaping up to be a can’t-miss card, and the event just added a high-stakes bantamweight kickboxing bout between a pair of former ONE World Champions.
On Friday, July 5, in U.S. primetime, Thai star Petchtanong Petchfergus will return to action for the first time since 2022 when he takes on Russian knockout artist Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
A former WBC and WMC Muay Thai World Champion in addition to being a former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion, Petchtanong is one of the most seasoned veterans and skilled all-around strikers in ONE Championship.
He claimed the bantamweight kickboxing crown with a high-paced split-decision victory over Hiroki Akimoto in November 2022 but was later stripped of the belt after failing a drug test.
Now back and free to compete, Petchtanong knows that a dominant victory over #3-ranked Ramazanov would give him a strong case to challenge reigning divisional kingpin Jonathan “The General” Haggerty.
The Russian, though, has World Title aspirations of his own.
A veteran of 12 thrilling battles in the world’s largest martial arts organization, Ramazanov is undoubtedly hungry to once again wear the 26 pounds of gold he previously held.
The hard-hitting 29-year-old claimed the ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title in 2019 with a decision win over Zhang Chenglong but would lose the gold to Capitan Petchyindee in his next outing.
Since then, Ramazanov has found success in ONE’s Muay Thai ranks, racking up a respectable 3-2 record and challenging for a World Title, all while showcasing his venomous boxing attack, fearless aggression, and savage finishing instincts.
He will now lace up the bigger gloves as he returns to kickboxing in this pivotal clash with master technician Petchtanong on July 5.
