Four-Man MMA Tournament Confirmed For Road To ONE: Australia
ONE Championship is holding a tournament in “The Land Down Under” to find the next great light heavyweight mixed martial artist.
The world’s largest martial arts organization has partnered with Queensland’s BEAST Championship for Road To ONE: Australia, which kicks off at the Gladstone Show Grounds on Saturday, October 8.
This bracket will feature four veterans from Australia’s blossoming MMA scene who will be competing for a US$100,000 contract with ONE Championship.
Jason Hoad, CEO of BEAST Championship, said:
“The Oceania region’s talent pool is very deep. The professional talent we have, in my honest opinion, is on par or above the greatest MMA athletes in the world today. You only need to see the amount of MMA and grappling champions that are from Australia to give you an idea of the immense talent coming through the ranks in our region.
“We also possess some of the toughest Muay Thai and kickboxing fighters on the planet, so it’s my vision to help get as many of these athletes into ONE Championship [as possible].”
One of the biggest names appearing in this tournament is Priscus Fogagnolo. “The Tassie Devil” is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and judo black belt who has immense power in his hands, and he holds an 11-1 record with a jaw-dropping 91 percent finishing rate.
Joining him is Lyle Karam. The man known as “Krusher” has competed primarily in Australia and his native South Africa, where he has garnered an impressive 7-1 slate.
The bracket also includes Isi “Doxz” Fitikefu, a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu brown belt who previously claimed belts in Eternal MMA, Superfight MMA, and most recently, Rogue MMA. The Sydney native brings with him a flawless 7-0 record, as well as a 71 percent finishing rate.
Finally, rounding out the four-man tournament is Harry “Kimura” Grech, who holds black belts in both BJJ and judo. The master grappler officially made the switch to MMA in 2020, where he has since won both of his pro fights via knockout.
The Road To ONE: Australia semifinals will take place at BEAST Championship 11, and the bracket will be revealed in the weeks ahead.
