Full Card For ONE On Prime Video 1: Moraes Vs. Johnson II Confirmed
ONE Championship thrilled the global fan base when it previously announced a pair of blockbuster matches for ONE on Prime Video 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II.
Now, the promotion has finally confirmed the full card for the highly anticipated event, which will broadcast live in U.S. primetime from the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday, August 26.
In addition to the ONE Flyweight World Title rematch between reigning king Adriano Moraes and old foe Demetrious Johnson in the main event, fans will get to see ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao defend his crown against British superstar Liam Harrison in the co-main event.
Nong-O has been electric since coming out of retirement in April 2018.
The Thai legend went on a jaw-dropping 8-0 run, extended his career record to 263-54-10, claimed the inaugural ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title, and established himself as the most dominant force in the entire division.
But Harrison believes he has the technique and the power to knock him off the bantamweight throne.
The magnetic Englishman owns a career record of 90-24-2, is riding a five-bout winning streak, and most recently knocked out Muangthai PK.Saenchai in one of the most exciting Muay Thai fights in ONE Championship history.
That earned Harrison the #5 spot in the rankings, a US$100,000 performance bonus, and a crack at Nong-O’s crown, which he’ll now get at ONE on Prime Video 1.
The card also features the previously announced ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix semifinal clash between reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Savvas Michael.
Joining that matchup is a Grand Prix alternate bout between former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Jonathan Haggerty and Malaysian-Iranian striker Amir Naseri.
Haggerty was originally scheduled to compete in the quarterfinal round this past May, but he was forced to withdraw from his matchup just before showtime due to health reasons. Now, the British fighter is medically cleared and looks to rejoin the field as an alternate.
Naseri, however, has other plans.
After being bounced from the tournament in the quarterfinals by Michael in May, the Malaysian-Iranian has been given a second chance, and he would love nothing more than to upset the former kingpin and potentially step back into the Grand Prix.
The main card will also feature a pair of MMA tilts in the heavyweight division.
Seventeen-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida looks to continue his marvelous transition to the all-encompassing sport. After chalking up a trio of first-round victories, he gets his biggest challenge yet in former ONE World Title challenger Kirill Grishenko.
Additionally, another former ONE World Title challenger Mauro Cerilli will continue working his way toward a second crack at heavyweight gold. Standing in his way is Greco-Roman Wrestling World Champion Amir Aliakbari, who intends to kick-start a run of his own.
Finally, the lead card will feature an atomweight MMA battle between Japanese grappling sensation Itsuki Hirata and Chinese striker Lin Heqin, plus a Muay Thai showdown between Australian hard-hitter Diandra Martin and English dynamo Amber Kitchen.
