Full Card Revealed For ONE: BATTLEGROUND II On 13 August
After an explosive start to the BATTLEGROUND event series, ONE Championship is ready to return with its fiery second installment.
On Friday, 13 August, the world’s largest martial arts organization will premiere ONE: BATTLEGROUND II, which was previously recorded at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The promotion had already announced an exciting main event clash between former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang and top Chinese lightweight star “The Warrior” Zhang Lipeng, as well as a co-main event showdown featuring #5-ranked strawweight contender Alex “Little Rock” Silva and surging juggernaut Miao Li Tao.
And on Monday, ONE announced three more mixed martial arts contests that will get the bill off to a thrilling start.
ONE: BATTLEGROUND II will feature the return of four-time Muay Thai and Kickboxing Heavyweight World Champion Alain “The Panther” Ngalani.
The Hong Kong-based hulk has mesmerized fans with his jaw-dropping athleticism, impressive feats of strength, and breathtaking highlight-reel knockouts.
Ngalani will need all of his strength, agility, and elite techniques when he meets Thomas “The Last Viking” Narmo.
Standing 200 centimeters tall, Narmo is one of the biggest athletes competing under the ONE banner. Moreover, the Norwegian mammoth owns an unblemished 4-0 slate and has stopped every opponent in the first round.
Also featured on the card is Indonesia’s top flyweight superstar, Eko Roni Saputra.
The multiple-time Indonesian Wrestling Champion has earned a reputation for being a quick finisher, submitting or knocking out his last four adversaries in the first round.
In Singapore, he’ll look to extend that streak and get some redemption for compatriot Elipitua “The Magician” Siregar against China’s Liu Peng Shuai.
When Liu met the previously undefeated Siregar at ONE: CLASH OF LEGENDS in February 2019, he was on the verge of losing a three-round war. But he pulled out a last-ditch kimura from his bag of tricks and handed “The Magician” his first career loss.
Now, Liu will look to stop another Indonesian’s meteoric rise on the global stage.
Opening the show will be a lightweight battle between Singapore-based Indian Rahul “The Kerala Krusher” Raju and Mongolian debutant Otgonbaatar Nergui.
Raju had a standout 2019, as he finished both Richard “The Notorious” Corminal and Furqan “The Lion” Cheema with his patented rear-naked choke. But in the years to follow, “The Kerala Krusher” endured some tough luck in the Circle and saw his winning streak come to an end.
The Indian will aim to restart his run at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, but his Mongolian rival is looking to make a name for himself on the global stage.
Nergui previously competed in ONE Warrior Series, where he submitted Shooto veteran Takuya Nagata with a guillotine choke. Now, he hopes to replicate that success in his main roster debut.
