Full Card Revealed For ONE Friday Fights 101 On March 21
After three athletes won life-changing US$100,000 contracts during last week’s centennial event, expect a slew of rising stars to try and accomplish the same feat this week.
ONE Friday Fights 101 goes down live in Asia primetime on March 21 and features 12 Muay Thai, kickboxing, and MMA contests inside the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
In the main event, #4-ranked flyweight Muay Thai contender Nakrob Fairtex faces his hard-hitting Thai compatriot Puengluang Baanramba.
A graduate of the Friday Fights series, Nakrob won four matchups on the trot. He also went on to dominate Muangthai PK Saenchai and Tagir Khalilov — two established names in ONE Championship.
But the Fairtex Training Center standout then absorbed a unanimous decision loss to Kongthoranee Sor Sommai in December. Since joining ONE though, Nakrob has never lost two fights in a row. Now, Puengluang aims to change that.
The 25-year-old also arrived in the promotion with high expectations in June 2023. He opened his account with six consecutive wins, including knockouts over Jomhod Chor Ketwina, Khunponnoi Sor Sommai, and Sonrak Fairtex.
Since then, Puengluang has had mixed results, winning only one of his last four fights. So, with both men in need of a victory, Lumpinee Stadium faithfuls can expect a war for as long as this bout lasts.
Elsewhere, Thailand’s Rocky Wor Wantawee takes on Myanmar’s Thway Lin Htet in an intriguing strawweight Muay Thai contest between two knockout artists.
Rocky announced his arrival in the promotion this past January at ONE Friday Fights 93. There, he scored a second-round knockout over Chalie Singha Mawynn, and now he’s looking to double his run against Thway Lin Htet.
The Myanmar fighter returned to the win column with a statement-making performance last time around. He dismantled Yodkitti FiatPathum inside three minutes to make up for his previous setback. With that, he’ll look to disrupt Rocky’s plans and move closer to a contract with the world’s largest martial arts organization.
In another featured bout of the evening, Israeli-American Avahat Gordon makes his debut against Eh Mwi of Myanmar in a flyweight Muay Thai showdown.
Gordon arrives with an unblemished record of 7-0. And despite having less experience than his foe, he promises to shake up the division and continue his blazing run.
In the other corner, Eh Mwi has firmly cemented himself in the series. Two of his victories have come by way of knockouts. In his last outing, he dispatched Muga Seto in the second frame, and he hopes to zap Gordon’s momentum as quickly as possible.
Earlier in the evening, a pair of MMA bouts will open the show as Team Lakay’s Carlos Alvarez of the Philippines locks horns with unbeaten Japanese fighter Seiya Matsuda in the featherweight bracket. Before that, Monjit Yein from India faces Justin Jones Matoto of the Philippines in strawweight action.
