Full Fight Card Confirmed For For ONE Friday Fights 2 On January 27
Fresh off the heels of ONE Championship’s historic first show at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, the full card for the promotion’s second event on Friday, January 27, has been confirmed.
Airing live in Asia primetime from the iconic venue in Bangkok, Thailand, ONE Friday Fights 2 will predominantly showcase the nation’s elite Muay Thai stylists with an added dose of international striking and mixed martial arts talent.
Topping the card is the long-awaited bantamweight Muay Thai rematch between “The Million Dollar Baby” Sangmanee PK.Saenchai and “Left Meteorite” Kulabdam Sor. Jor. Piek Uthai.
These two superstars originally met in the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai Tournament semifinals in August 2020 and the bout was expected to be an intense back-and-forth battle, but Kulabdam shocked the Muay Thai world by knocking his compatriot out in the waning moments of the first round.
Aside from their shared history together in the Circle, the duo have also won similar achievements. For instance, both men have captured Lumpinee Stadium World Title gold in the past and offered up some incredible performances inside the iconic arena.
And as previous recipients of the Sports Writers of Thailand Fighter of the Year award, Sangmanee and Kulabdam have secured their places in the sport. Add in “The Million Dollar Baby’s” hunger to redeem himself against his countryman, and the ONE Friday Fights 2 main event has all the makings of an epic clash.
Bangkok’s PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym has plenty more representation on the stacked card, as another four of the gym’s Muay Thai athletes are scheduled for action.
Strawweights Chalamkhao PK.Saenchai and Pettong Kiatsongrit will duke it out in the co-main event, but first, featherweight striker Avatar PK.Saenchai will square off against Iran’s Mohammed Siasarani.
Also, former ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title challenger Pongsiri PK. Saenchai will meet Ferzan Cicek in a bantamweight showdown.
There are five more Muay Thai battles on the bill, featuring a mix of Thai and international athletes.
Former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix alternate Sherzod Kabutov will look for his second consecutive promotional victory when he faces Nakrob Fairtex.
Yoddoi Kaewsamrit and Songchainoi Kiatsongrit go at it in an all-Thai bantamweight clash, and four-time Muay Thai World Champion Yodlekpet Or. Pitisak takes on tough Romanian Silviu Vitez.
Lastly, ONE Championship veteran Marie “Snow Leopard” Ruumet makes her return against American Thai-Ngan Le at atomweight, and Malaysia’s Elias Ghazali meets Iraq’s Ayad Albadr in a flyweight battle.
Muay Thai may dominate the bill, but a pair of MMA contests will be featured earlier in the evening.
Undefeated Australian Harry Grech will face Iranian rising star and Venum Training Camp product Arash Mardani in a middleweight tilt, and American kickboxer Jakub Wayman will open the show against England’s Riccardo Cantindig-Stagg.
