Ham Seo Hee Vs. Denice Zamboanga II Booked For ONE X On 26 March
A highly anticipated rematch between two of the atomweight division’s biggest stars has been booked for ONE Championship’s 10-year anniversary show.
Six months after their controversial first encounter, #2-ranked women’s atomweight contender Denice “Lycan Queen” Zamboanga will meet #3-ranked “Arale Chan” Ham Seo Hee at ONE X, which broadcasts live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Saturday, 26 March.
The two mixed martial artists originally squared off in the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix quarterfinals at the historic all-female ONE: EMPOWER event in September.
Each athlete was sharp and calculated in the first two rounds, but Ham started to edge ahead with her striking in the third frame.
An inadvertent clash of heads damaged Zamboanga’s forehead, which led to a brief recovery period. But once action resumed, the Filipina immediately took down the South Korean striker, landed in top position, and unloaded punches for the remainder of the frame.
Ultimately, Ham earned the split-decision victory to hand “Lycan Queen” the first loss of her career and eliminate her from the Grand Prix.
But while the South Korean effectively advanced to the semifinals, she had to withdraw from the tournament due to injury.
Since that fight, Zamboanga has been vocal about her displeasure with the judges’ decision and believes she did more than enough to secure the victory.
Ham, however, feels the judges got the decision right.
Now, each woman will have three more rounds to prove they are the superior mixed martial artist when they return to Singapore for their heated rematch.
Also, the winner could line herself up for the next crack at the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Championship. That title will be contested later in ONE X, as reigning atomweight queen “Unstoppable” Angela Lee defends the gold against ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Champion Stamp Fairtex.
